GetBackers Chapter 44 Discussion

                        Good chapter after the first act. Himiko being mostly naked during her attack on Kazuki takes away from the tension and seriousness of the action. I'm not a fan of ecchi but there's still a proper time to use it and during an intense character "betrayal" sequence is not the place.



But I enjoyed the chapter after that, since it was for building up future battles. A lot of the fights here have just kind of happened, and that drains them of much cathartic or investment, so having Kazuki escape Juubei, and introducing the silhouettes does a good job of building up some sense of our opponents. And poor Hevn. Also found the rundown of our heroes pretty cool, Akabane's note of not even using 10% of his power is pretty awesome, and them labeling Ban as the most dangerous is definitely interesting.
