It's always nice to see Yahiko getting some character development; I wish the female characters could be written in a similar way....
As much as I enjoyed the conversation about Tomoe and where the ladies stand when it comes to her fate; I'd love to hear them talk about something besides being in love with Kenshin.
Especially seeing as they both originally appeared to be really tough women who're just as honourable and serious about protecting what's important to them as every other fighter (or citizen of this still chaotic age) - There should be more meaning to their own personal struggles with survival and not that shallow oversimplification and reduction to damsels in distress with only boys on their mind..
Even Misao (who seemed like she could be a multilayered tough female warrior) turned out to be just another love crazy side kick ~
(This kinda turned into a rant but somehow seeing the girls only talk about their love for kenshin again at night really bothered me this time around.
Kaoru's feelings about Kenshin should definitely be brought up at this specific point given how she just learned about "her predecessor" Tomoe but contrasting them with Yahiko's declaration of resolve made me feel frustrated...
There's just so much wasted potential - We could've had so much more interesting, relatable and realistic characters!!!!)
