Another so-so volume imo. It was cool to see Kaoru actually fight, and win, in a battle. But, really, the series has become to battle happy recently. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind fights at all. But, there hasn't been much emotional or character investment recently. Plus the 10 swords are generally boring, not exactly well-written characters.
Here's hoping the next volume picks it up.
Right now i'm re-reading the series in the giant volume format ( 3 volumes in one ) and just got to volume 4 which goes up to the great Kyoto fire. Personally I feel like there are to many villains but I like how long the arc actually is, and Shishio is a great villain to me. Theres also the the arc after this one you have to look forwards to. All i'm trying to say is don't worry, the story definitely picks up!
