Rurouni Kenshin Chapter 1 Discussion

Going to marathon this but the first chapter was pretty entertaining with the intro of the main leads. Action and comedy wise, it both had a good balance.

Absolutely loved this chapter. I shall start my marathon now.

I love how the first chapter sets the mood for the rest of the story. Kenshin as the friendly-seeming, yet distant wanderer who might leave at any time and Kaoru as the girl who is infatuated with him, but also has her own pride as a dojo master.

I love the colored pages, and interesting to see the difference between the manga and anime.

My first samurai manga (kind of weird to believe I've never tried one before).

A pretty decent opening chapter. Kenshin, or should I say Battousai, is kind of like Vash, switching from an innocent personality to one with killing intent in a second. Also just like Vash, Kenshin's age is a mystery :D

Kaoru's a pretty interesting female lead, and I'll hope she stays far away from the 'damsel in distress' archetype.

To be fair, Rurouni Kenshin wasn’t my first Manga, but i count it as my first one because it was the first I really enjoyed reading, and that eventually opened this wonderful world to me. What was your first Manga? And when did you read it?

The main characters look surprisingly shoujo for starring in a shounen manga.

The coloured pages are gorgeous! And what a cool way to start the story - Rurouni switching between serious and goofy nature reminds me a lot of Trigun (well, I guess it should be the other way around, but I started Trigun first :P)

Its funny how kenshind doesn't know how old he is and that Oro part..

The story starts well, I have somewhat high expectations from what I have been told about I don't know how many fights but in general I have 0 knowledge of the manga's plot, I hope it will be an incredible story for me.

Pretty good chapter. I kind of put off reading the manga for a while considering my bad experience with the anime. But I guess we'll see how things go.
