They have no proof that Retsudo is involved with those letters and I doubt that Ittou would testify against him.

                        It's so crazy to see Retsudō in this position. Falling so far from grace. He's facing the high court and is being accused of abuse of power and having involvement with the letters. Retsudō denies any wrongdoing and claims to have no knowledge of the letters. The high court believes he's guilty, but they don't have enough solid proof to convict him, so the Shogun decides to place Retsudō under house arrest.  After they finish their business, Abe tries to make the situation even worse for Retsudō and tries to gain favor with the Shogun to set himself up to gain more power. Now the Shogun has appointed Abe to supervise Retsudō. What a turn of events. The Shogun had also ordered Abe to bring Itto to the castle since he claims he can get it done. Will Itto oblige him?

Retsudo managed to nearly get away with this whole thing, his wisdom and strategies of defending himself truly are one of a kind. Now Abe is about to have so much extra trouble making sure Retsudo doesn't trick him in some kind of way while he watches him over.
