This was a perfect ending for an amazing manga, but I can't believe this is "The End", you know? I felt like I wanted to cried at some parts (especially when Hohemhiem wanted to sacrifice himself to bring back Al) and I'm happy that EdxWinry got to happen in the very end and when it shows that they had kids and also when Roy had a chance to get his eyes back. Thank you,Arakawa-san, for this very good story and this wonderful ending :3 .

I feel so empty that it's over... But I'm glad it worked out so perfectly. I was a little afraid that a rushed ending could spoil such a wonderfully written series, but it wasn't rushed at all. It was nothing short of "perfect".

Awesome end, the manga will totally be missed. If this manga doesn't shoot up to be first, then the world will implode.

A fantastic way to end an epic manga.

FMA will truly be missed. I feel that something is missing from inside me now that one of my favorite manga has ended ~.~

I cried.

The ending wasn't totally what I expected (or, in some aspects, what I really wanted) but it was beautiful regardless. I cried because it's the end - no more waiting for chapters, no more fun theories (that we'll be able to canonly confirm or trash, at least), and no more goofy interactions between the characters I've grown to love (outside of fanfiction).

I am not an EdWin fan, but the last few pages... What Edward did was just so... Edward. Arakawa's a genius.

And Ling! I've always said that, as long as Ling, Edward, and Riza survive, I'll be happy (and I am), but Emperor Ling looks so... SERIOUS. I'll miss my fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, silly Ling...

I've followed this series since 2001... It's hard to see it go, but at the same time, I couldn't have asked for a better story to follow, and that makes me happy.

But I'm getting confused with the details of this ending though.

How did Ed punch a hole in Father's chest with just his fist?

Was Father just absorbed by the Truth?

How did Hohenheim die, did his stone run out?

If Ed can return from beyond the white space or whatever it's called, why did Mustang say he couldn't do it?

And where did the back door come from?

1. Ed can punch a hole in Father's chest because his body has been pushed to the limit by the God that resides within him. With Greed rebelling against him, turning his legs in to charcoal, this takes up even more of whatever that is left of his Philosopher's Stone. This all took a toll on body, making it extremely fragile. Some suspension of belief is required here.

2. Father was sent back into the Gates of Truth. The Truth guy said that he will be in despair for eternity. Other than that, there is no further elaboration.

3. Hohenheim died because his stone ran out. He already offered it to Ed in order to get Alphonse back saying that it has power for one last human transmutation. Suffice to say that the Stone has nearly been depleted. Taking into consideration the time it took him to travel from Central back to Resembool, the Stone most likely would have been depleted shortly after he visits Trisha's grave.

4. Ed and Al's doors are connected together since they were both sucked into the Truth at the same time. It was stated in the earlier chapters that during the first trip to the Truth, they got a "bit" of each swapped between them, hence Ed being short. Ed can afford to sacrifice his Gate Of Truth for Al because as both of their Gates are connected, he can just exit from the Truth using Al's Gate. Mustang couldn't do that since if he sacrificed his gate for his eyes, he would be stuck in limbo forever without an exit.Thank you. It was 3am when I read the last chapter so my mind was in limbo too xD. That makes perfect sense. And I agree too that if Mustang tried to sacrifice his gate, even if he were to return, he cannot use alchemy which is what made him well-known. Now I'm satisfied with this ending. I've been reading this manga for 3 years and now I'll be sad that it's gone. I'll do this manga a favor and add it to my favorites list ;)

Come on, get to rank #1. Less than 24 hours ago it was #9, and now it's #8.

Why does MAL put 116 chapters, when the real count is 108? Is it that hard?

After many years since it’s conclusion, I finally finished FMA myself. It was a very entertaining and heartwarming story, and the ending didn’t disappointed me at all. I like happy endings, so I was very okay with it. I finally understand why this manga is so much loved and appreciated. I had a hard time at the beginning, dropping this manga two times before finally finishing it, and the main reason was the first 1/3 of FMA: all those overwhelming silly jokes and a story that just wouldn’t take the flight made me feel like I was forcing myself through it and really couldn’t understand why FMA was considered to be a masterpiece. I really liked and enjoyed this manga at the end, but I can’t unsee or forget how the first 9 volumes felt. A masterpiece has to grab my attention and curiosity since the very start, and not only for 2/3 of the overall story. I rate a shounen mostly based on how much it entertained me, and the first 9 volumes struggled on that purpose. Nevertheless, it’s a 9/10 for me.
