Fullmetal Alchemist Chapter 4 Discussion

What a great fight that was. That fight really showed us how good Ed and Al are in a team!



I am sure there will be a lot of interesting charachters in this manga! I wonder what role will Mustang have!

Ed and Al stop a train hijacking, and we get introduced to Mustang here.

This chapter was hilarious. Ed's epic knee lunge after waking up was... epic.

Sounds like brotherhood chose the right chapters to skip, I'd say the last two aren't as strong as the first two so far.

Roy looks cool, looking forward to his next appearance.

god i love the characters in this manga, theres just something so cartoony and likable about them. there really hasn't been much conflict yet since all the alchemists are easily able to dispose of their enemies. this first volume feels more like a way to show off who the alchemists are more than anything.

I'll never understand why this chapter was never adapted in FMA: Brotherhood, despite being canon. It's such a big mystery to me.

Actually it was adapted in the fifth episode of the 2003 anime version. Sadly they didn't do a good job since they changed the story (Ed not state alchemist yet, other soldiers helping out) and also cut out the best comedic parts which are IMO

-Ed rampaging after being awoken

-him announcing proudly to be an alchemist before almost killing himself climbing out the window



Brotherhood dropped it since Roy had already been introduced as early as episode one. Fair enough IMO since this chapter doesn't offer much more in terms of story development.



Nonetheless, entertaining chapter for sure!

This was in the original series (though the context was changed, Ed and Al haven't joined the military yet), and was cut out of Brotherhood. Ed and Al kicked their asses.

I feel this would've been a neat little introduction to Roy if they kept it in FMAB, but at the same time I can see why they skipped it after all

I soo wish they would have included this and the previous chapter in brotherhood :(

I mean this was Roy Mustangs first ever apperance.

It was actually a pretty funny one shot chapter, I was expecting it to be a two part story; but I love it!
