Of course he wouldn't be able to outsmart Retsudo. It was pretty funny when Abe-no-Kaii pissed himself. He really is a despicable man.

                        Retsudō recruits more of his men to go after Abe-No-Kai and Itto. Meanwhile, Abe-No-Kai is at home hiding under his blanket in fear of Itto. Retsudō pays Abe-No-Kai a visit to tell him he no longer needs him to go after Itto. At this point, Abe-No-Kai tries to knock out Retsudō by making him breathe in a poisonous smoke. Retsudō pretends as if the smoke worked, but he's really got an antidote and is playing Abe-No-Kai to find out his plan. Retsudō gains the upper hand and forces Abe-No-Kai to sign in blood that he'll never hurt the Yagyu. Retsudō plans on showing the Shogunate so that they'll force Abe-No-Kai to commit seppuku. Abe-No-Kai decides to make a run for it and try to kill Itto so that he can gain favor with the Shogunate instead.
