Also I didn't expect Asaemon to die...he looked like a new long-time rival xD It was foreshadowed in the beginning by listing names, however. But I didn't realize it until the end. There's another manga about his earlier life though.

Anyway, what were those Buddhas even made from?? You can't cut stone. Maybe it was wood, but still.

Dang, Asaemon went out way too quick. Having read about his story in Kubikiri Asa, it's a bit disappointing he doesn't have a bigger role to play in this.

                        ----------------------------------------

Now the Shogunate officials are sending someone they believe is on par with Itto to kill him, but the Yagyuu are trying to prevent this man from accomplishing his mission. They even go so far to rig the duel between Itto and the man trying to kill him. In the process of Itto's duel, the other man's sword breaks and Itto is able to come out on top. Itto questions whether it was the Yagyuu clans involvement or the demon gods of Meifumado that he won. Good chapter though. I really love how the mangaka has thoroughly researched Japanese history during the Edo period so that he can write an extremely accurate representation of life during this time. Everything that the mangaka writes to teach the readers about history and the lives of these people is so interesting and well done. It really is phenomenal how much time and effort is put into making this manga so we'll written and enjoyable.
