I always liked Goku's Super Saiyan transformation, immediately blowing their expectations out of the water (even though they rebounded from the shock quickly and calmly). Besides that, I like that both Piccolo and Tien got moments show some intelligence, with Piccolo figuring out why they choose to stop in that area and Tien observing Goku's heavy breathing despite just flying. The fighting is going to be handle by Goku, he says as much, so it's nice to delegate moments like these to the rest of the cast so it's still relevant for them to be there.
I also quite liked the dialogue between Bulma and Yajirobe, "I can't fly" was both kinda funny and kinda heartwarming. Rather than him not going for his typical reasons, being that he lacks the ability too is kinda touching.
