Dragon Ball Chapter 22 Discussion

Goku is really varying in size in most of these panels. Nice payoff with the tail, and pretty much everything is resolved in one or two chapters in this arc, so it fits with that even if it could have gone on for longer.

And this folks is peak Yamcha and ITS!! ALL!!! down hill from here. I honest feel more sad than anything else.

I'll admit, I didn't expect Great Ape Goku to defeated within a single chapter, and I agree that it felt a bit too quick, but I'll take too fast pacing over too slow pacing any day. They did convey pretty quickly how powerful the ape is, with destroying the trap room that nobody was really capable of denting outside of the Kamehameha, and throwing the building's top to stop the plane is classic monkey action.



As this clearly functions as the end of the arc (well, next chapter is the end according to the guide I find), I think what I find most interesting here is that Goku is positioned as the final conflict, and the tail weakness bit was more of a Chekhov's gun to our heroes winning than something to allow Goku to have conflict in his battles. It's quite nice seeing Yamcha and Puar get to be the heroes of the arc, as alluded to above the rest of the series doesn't treat them the best (the Z stuff doesn't for sure, I can't speak for the DB stuff much).

Yeah the Manga is way Faster than the anime for sure.

Damn yo. Goku is now tail-less.

Pual has to be pretty strong to be able to cut through flesh and bones!

Goku destroy all, but in the last instant, Shamcha and Puar cut the Goku´s tail, and his returned to the normality!!!!

don't agree with some people here, for my opinion it could be much shorter, seeing goku ape destroying things isn't the most interesting, the solution of the tail is kinda inventible.

I think that was too fast and easy. How they defeated Oozaru so easily if Son Gohan was killed by him? I don't know how it was in the anime, since I didn't watched it, but the pacing in this chapter could be better. Oozaru Goku should have lasted at least 2 chapters.
