Takasugi did mention that they're preserving Utsuro's body, but he hasn't completely clarified as to why they're doing so. If Gintoki can put the heart back on Shoyo's form, then there should be a higher chance of Shoyo reviving than Utsuro. Though it seems like the Altana Takasugi took is detrimental to his health too.

Also let's not forget that Takasugi is supposedly the one who revived them, which means that them retrieving the body must be a part of his plan as well.

But I failed to understand completely what he meant by doing things differently this time and not repeating the same mistake humans have done again and again in front of Utsuro's eyes. I mean, even if he successfully retrieved the Shoyo persona again, what next? all that makes me think that Takasugi's looking at something even beyond that.

I think the endgame goal here is to have Utsuro die satisfied without anymore hatred towards humans, like at the end of the fight he was proven wrong about humans, but still continued to fight and hate humans, like he doesn't want to admit he's wrong.

Btw can you give me a link to that profile picture you have? It's sick.

Hmm, so Shoyo got attacked while he was talking to Gintoki. He crystallized his heart and gave it to Gintoki so the Naraku won't have their hands on it. Without his heart, Shoyo's body should just be a shell, preventing the Naraku from gaining anything from capturing him.

Gintoki's supposed to destroy the heart and end the cycle of Utsuros, but seeing Shoyo for a bit kinda changed his mind. I bet both Gintoki and Takasugi want to use the heart and bring back Shoyo. But there's no guarantee if it would result in getting back Shoyo, or getting back Utsuro.

Hi-tech they have there, Naraku! Can preserve the body without the heart.

And the mastermind behind Naraku, I wonder who. Is it old character or new character?

That’s an interesting looking heart.

They seem to want to bring back Shoyou?

As much as I like Gintama, this is dragging out a bit too much imo.

Nah, this is exactly what we needed, ending it at the end of "Act 2" would've been too rushed, too many things unexplained and things that were hinted at weren't done(Takasugi and Katsura getting closure with Utsuro, Utsuro accepting everything and Gintoki finally being free of his burden), and while the battle for the world was great and all, ending the series with the characters facing their own personal struggles is much better, is much more Gintama than trying to save the world. This is exactly what the series needed.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
