Ultraman in the first pages, after speaks about the mangaka, the pretty girl is considered a Oranguta...strange manga, strange first chpater!!!

Art is great, even if some characters look different from the anime. You protected us for a page, one page is a lot for a mangaka, lol!

I died when Shinpachi asked Tae if she still has her underwear on.

Hmm, I started from manga actually (getting Gintama anime soon though)

What can I say, it sure looks nice xD It's fun, the drawings are top-notch, and I absolutely love how it laughs at all the shounen cliches. Definitely my type of manga after being a little tired of the overused plot elements :P

Well that was pretty funny; quite a variety of themes in this and I like the setting and main character already. Artwork seems decent too. Definitely going to follow this to see where it goes~

I think the drawing of Gin-chan is a bit cuter in the manga. =O

Also Otae looks prettier in the manga as well.

I really liked the setting and characters, but the attempts at humor will likely have to grow on me. Mostly, I would have preferred the story to be longer than one chapter, as the sister immediately saying that she would no longer be reckless felt like it came out of nowhere. An interesting introductory chapter, but perhaps not for me. I suppose we'll see if I end up liking Gintama in the end, as I am committing to reading all of it.

Nice start with an Ultraman in the first cases. Then a few catchy phrases. And those funny moments of "manga awareness" (no idea how it is called in english).

I have a problem though, Japan is said to have opened to strangers, but only E.T.s (a lot of different species) seem to live around. Or did those aliens simply conquered all the Earth, Japan islands included? (after all, they seem advanced enough)

Decided to Read and Watch Gintama Simultaneously to get better understanding of characters.

Overall not much difference between Anime and Manga first episode.

Good Pilot chapter which introduce with this setting of this Story.

Same, raced to finish the first 201 eps to watch the premiere of the new season..



I hate waiting weekly for episodes so here I am..

Yeah. The humor isn't really hitting me. The only things that really appealed to me about the chapter were the action scenes as well as the background of the characters. I'm curious to know more about Gintoki's reasons for being a samurai.
