Despite what I said in the last chapters discussion, I can't be too hard on Yugi. He might be Kaiba's rival, but he still sees him as a friend. He even admits his fear of the game and of the dark version of himself.

And @RunningWild85 is right about Anzu here. She really did shine this chapter. Really bold of her to set Kaiba straight and let him know that even though he won by a technicality, he still lost because he bitched out and lost the will to live for a moment. I just gained a lot of respect for Anzu here.

And Mai shows up ready to pay her debt to Yugi.

Okaaaaay…

As much as I understand where Anzu is coming from when she lectured Kaiba that everyone struggles and some people are willing to keep up a fight…the way she gave her toxic positivity speech to him was pretty fucked up. She told Kaiba that he was a coward for not wanting to live when he was losing the duel. I’m sorry but I don’t think she would be saying this if she knew the circumstances with Mokuba and Pegasus. Is this also shit you’d say to a person in real life? Everyone saw Kaiba’s suicide attempt as cowardly, but Yugi didn’t see it that way. He was the only person that understood.

Let’s not forget, Gozaboro literally committed suicide to teach Kaiba a “lesson”, teaching Kaiba that losers should perish. Kaiba in this case is the loser and believes he does not deserve to live.

It’s apparent that Yugi has guilt from Yami Yugi exposing Kaiba to that penalty game before Death-T. Kaiba’s mental health was obviously considered which is why Yami Yugi put him in a coma to begin with. Kaiba may still be a dick at times but his actions speak differently now than before Death-T. Kaiba’s mind “reset” obviously changed him regarding how he feels about Mokuba and is trying to spare Yugi with Pegasus.

I also can’t blame Anzu for everything that she said either because Kaiba straight up almost killed everyone.

It was also pretty sexist of her telling Yugi that “boys don’t cry”.

This whole chapter was pretty whack. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Kaiba sure has a pretty messed up view on the world. But then again his adopted father killed himself in front of him to show him what defeat means.

But Anzu told him a piece of her mind, and so Kaiba may have won the game but ended up being the real loser at end.

Anzu really shined here.

Anyway, Kaiba went into the castle along with Bandit Keith, taking Yugi's five star chips. Things all seemed hopeless for Yugi and his friends until Mai showed up and offered to repay her debt to Yugi.

Also another thing the anime change is having Yugi have ptsd and loosing all of his courage for an episode, giving up completely. So Anzu and Mai can duel together. This change again served no purpose other than to prolong everything and have more card games. It even undermined Yugi as a character, yet again. In the manga Yugi  does not give up and gets back on track thanks to his friends cheering and Anzu's speach!
