I don't understand why this manga is listed as having 330 chapters when 329 is the final chapter.
Anyway, I liked this series mostly but I think the last arc is a sloppy mess that drags it down a bit. The only storyline I really liked was Fuuko and Raiha's rivalry. The rest of the matchups/plots were very very undercooked. Mikagami lost like two fights off panel and then his big reveal with his master is like two chapters where Kyouza just pukes up blood, says "I was fucked anyway", and then pulls a reverse double fake-out about killing his sister but not really. Domon's storyline is just super steady and he's a likeable enough character that never changes, really. Koganei and Joker was kinda pointless. Recca is a likeable character (as is Yanagi) but their relationship is so threadbare that even throwing out some pseudo-reincarnation bs doesn't add any depth to why he loves her so much.
And almost all the villains fizzle out so strangely. Renge in particular just goes insane and does nothing. She fights Kurei for all of one chapter and runs away which makes Kurei look cooler I suppose but he already had half the series to get built up as that sort of badass. Renge feels like a placeholder that needed to be gotten rid of rather than an actual villain. The blood guy at least fights a few times but his change of heart felt rather unearned. Aoi's was earned but I just didn't care that deeply about him. And finally, the way the evil madogu maker (can't even remember his name) and Kouran were split out from the main body but also fueling its consciousness felt sort of half-assed. It should've just eaten them or one of them should've absorbed the other, or something. Just having this third party evil dude fight for 15 chapters and die was anti-climactic.
That mountain of criticisms aside, I think this series is fun. It does have more to offer than "okay Yu Yu Hakusho ripoff" but after seeing the anime and reading the manga I think that sums up perfectly what you're in for. I liked most of the main cast and the action was fun enough. Not a bad series for its time.
