That volume was devastating. Everything that defined Shuuya has now been crushed. The epitome of what he wanted to form, trust between loyal friends who didn't want to play the game, faith in each other, was just shattered in his face. Not only that, but he witnesses two people that he couldn't save, one who jumps to commit suicide directly in front of him, and one who is so lost in delusions that she can't even listen to him. Shuuya asking himself if he can save anyone was great. Lastly, he finally comes into contact with Mimura, and news of death is much different than actually witnessing it. He see's his corpse, reads his plans, and see's that Mimura was the exact person he was looking for, he was reliable, caring and was just about ready to stop the Program. But instead, he's lying dead in Shu's arms, everything right about what he did was only compensated with the death of himself and his best friend.
I suppose Mimura wrote take the shot as he was bleeding out, perhaps with Shuuya in mind huh. The way he created funerals for all the dead, yet was desensitized to them at this point, and the way he absolutely gave up on saying Mizuho, comparing her to Kaori, Yuko, Class Pres, and Machete bro, as well as the fact that he isn't even sure of what is right anymore apart from keeping Noriko safe, all really show how Shuuya has been mentally desecrated.. If Noriko dies he'll have to lose it won't he, I can only hope that doesn't happen for his sake. With only 7 left, 2 being stone cold killers, 1 being suspicious of betraying Shuuya and Noriko, and a wild card, with only 3 being confidently trustworthy, this is going to be getting really intense.
