When was the last time Mendo's mom appeared in the manga? Probably it was the new year's chapter before the introduction of Ryoko.



It's still crazy to me that Shutaro is the most normal one out of the Mendo family.



Although I liked this chapter, I don't understand why THIS was chosen to be adapted as the first OVA episode made by Madhouse. There were better stories like Flower Petals of Love and Courage featuring Inaba and Shinobu, Fortress of Fastidiousness featuring Asuka in her school, and One Night's Battle with Nagisa and Ryunosuke. Those stories had more content that could've been adapted. But instead, they adapted this with a bunch of anime original scenes...
