Urusei Yatsura Chapter 16 Discussion

So, Oni is ogre and Karasu Tengu is Crow Goblin? I don't understand Viz's problem with keeping some terms in Japanese.



I didn't know what Skylab was. Weird how Viz called it way old but it wasn't that old when this chapter came out.



Kurama reminds me of Rumiko's original idea for Urusei Yatsura where Ataru would basically get a new alien suitor every other day. Seems like introducing Kurama was a way to go back to the original idea once more.




It's interesting how much Kurama was emphasized early on in the manga but she basically became a forgotten character later on. Her character design is cool (especially her design in the Remake) but I wasn't her biggest fan. I think Lum's friends Ran, Oyuki and Benten are way more interesting than her. So I didn't really miss her much.

It's hilarious that if Ataru turned into a girl, he'd become a lesbian. I guess Ataru is just Ataru. It's impossible to rewire his brain to NOT like women lol.

Kurama chapter, I love the fact that Ataru kissed her with no problem, then Kurama has a tough job in making him a decent individual which is impossible.
