Chrno Crusade Chapter 29 Discussion

  • #2
Joshua has had pandemonium alter him to the point he doesn't even recognize his own sister and is willing to attack her on order.  The way they draw Rosettes shock and disgust and outrage in this chapter was really quite phenomenal.  The character art is one of this manga's greatest strengths.

Aion means Devil or so we hard which makes a lot of sense.  I wonder if he represents the literal devil in this fight against God.  Him forcing Rosette to shoot him at point blank just to show her how useless it is was cool.

Az and Stella went with Vid quite peacefully it seems.  I wonder if it was to save Rosette or if they accepted they couldn't win.

Rosette stopping Chrno from attacking like that seemed to be out of love for her brother more than anything, especially how she let go of him immediately as she realized what she had done.  It was an instinct she regretted and due to it slowing Chrno down he got shot in the face.  The last panel where she was screaming, Chrno was shot, and Az and Stella had just gotten there to see it was masterful.

Last thought, Joshua seems to recognize Chrno and with hatred it seems.

Rosette had met Joshua. Aion begane doing his plan. We have more mysteries and questions. The forth volume came to it's end. But story doesn't.

I'm not sure, but up to this point, I suspect that Joshua's maid (Fiore) is Satella's sister? Maybe she thought the hornless demon was Chrono because he resembles Aion, who must've taken Fiore during the fire. I don't know; even the pursuers mixed those two up when they were smelling Aion, but figured it to be slightly different, which was Chrono's scent. Plus, the part where it says Joshua and Fi must be attached to each other because they're both "missing something" could be that they are both missing their sisters (Rosette and Satella).

Bam. We'll see if I'm right X] hehehe C:

I see they changed things a bit here compared to the anime, think I like this version better although anime wasn't too bad either.

Ah, the place where the anime and manga diverged. It's a shame that the anime moved away from the manga at this point, because the last bits they took from the manga are really well done--the scene of Rosette running up the stairs is exactly how I would've imagined the frames from the manga would be animated.
