Genshiken Chapter 114 Discussion

Start of shrine visiting.  Hand holdings from two American girls and guys are sensing in different ways.  That was a dangerous move from Angela.  Keiko next time?

I never cared much for Angela, but now that she's basically resigned from the Rame harem (and in such a spectacular way) I feel a bit sad. Let's see if Keiko can set "Watanabe" straight in the next chapter.

For those saying that Nidaime does not deserve a 10 in comparison to original Genshiken, let me just say that I bumped my score from 9 to 10 specifically because of the Mada x Saki resolution. That was beautiful.



And Yoshitake will see to it that this whole harem situation will be resolved by the end of this trip, trust me :)

I think Madarame is going through all the girls first before he gets to Hato eventually. Angela is basically out now, not that she ever had a chance to begin with, tho.

Although the harem aspect isn't the best of Genshiken, I'm still rather enjoying it. I hope it picks up pace a little though, if it carries on as 1 pair per chapter we'll have like 6 more months of this temple visit, but i guess if they stop after all the harem members have a chance it'll cut that in half.



Still don't like Angela, i would have been embarrassed to be at a temple with her dressed like that, fortunately i can't see her being a long time member of the cast. It was good that she forced Madarame into some physical contact with the hand holding, now he might not be quite as nervous about touching any of the others.



Keiko's turn should be exciting but i hope she doesn't ruin it by being pissed off the whole time.

I do agree the whole harem business is going on for too long, but I feel that we are finally nearing a conclusion (an unsatisfying one though, I fear). Although I still believe the characters in the manga are really great, I also must admit that the harem situation is diminishing my enjoyment a bit. I really hope Nidaime will not close right after the conclusion to this romance plot, but instead continue with at least a strong new story before ending.

I agree, because I think she was checking who Madarame was looking at when she put his hand on her face, and unfortunately that was Hato. I still hope Sue x Mada is the way it will go, though.

Agreed, they totally should split the two, because I'm with you on this. Though I would not drop Nidaime, the first deserves a 10, while Nidaime does not. I find the harem thing is overstaying its welcome. In my personal opinion he should've not fucked up when Sue came to him around Valentine and have gone for her. Not a huge fan of this whole thing going on between Madarame and Hato.

I'm so sick of this shitty over-long, nonsensical harem arc, i'm incredibly close to dropping this. Just sat here waiting for the author to return to form, looks like that'll never happen though. I'll probably give it until chapter 120. This is my first manga that I've reduced the score on by more than 2, which wouldn't have happened if MAL had separate entries for the first and second parts.

So, he looks at Hato when Angela puts his hand to her face.



Faaaaar back I said I would hate it if they made Madarame go for Hato. It seems it's going to go that way... Because people suddenly turn gay after being rejected...



Though Yoshitake is always awesome. If Madarame was the heart of Genshiken in the  1st phase, she's the heart of the 2nd phase.



Let's hope she ends the Harem stuff forever now, because one of Genshiken's good points was that the characters and events were pretty much real. This whole harem stuff is pretty forced IMO. And a lot of wish fullfillment for otaku fantasy.

Noo, is he really going for Hato? This manga turned into pretty shitty one. They should end it before all that hato bs. Maybe after Madarame talked with Saki last time in the club.

My thinking is Angela is more cunning then we have given her credit for. The Mada-harem focus has been significant in Nidaime for some time, and although I 'ship Mada the way it does in Spotted Flower, it is an interesting set-up. Also with the triangle of Hato Mada Yaj throws another dynamic into the story.
