Pikachu... won? Against onix?! Broken

love the way of the preliminary stage, much more like the games than the anime (though it wasn't on ring).



though the winning was unexplained, it was pretty funny how onix got broken xDD

Glad they show the preliminaries.



So how did Pikachu win here? In the game, the smart thing to do is to not use one and in the anime, Ash uses the sprinklers.

Are Graveler and Onix still.. alive? And how the hell did Pikachu win against Onix! In the anime I remember a somewhat explanation for it, but in the manga it was just boom, won. Pretty lame.

GRAVELER AND ONYX WERE SHATTERED INTO PIECES!!!

Seriously wtf are they dead now? That's kinda cruel...



And what the hell is wrong with Brock? That attack could have killed Red if it hit him.

But well, at least he has the badge now.

                        I don’t understand how Pikachu won, and it looks like no one else in the manga did either.  At least they showed that Red is pretty good by winning the preliminaries in spectacular fashion.

I really liked the fact that they showed the preliminaries, as we see it in games, but never on anime.



And seems that those insignias can power up your pokemon.

This manga doesn't pull any punches in regards to the sheer power of the Pokémon and the gruesome consequences of using them.

I'd like to think that the explanation to Pikachu's win is that while Red's other Pokémon were fighting, it was resting and accumulating electricity. The moment it felt threatened by Onix, it released all that electricity in a single attack that shocked Onix to pieces. Still an a**pull but hey, we've seen worse in the anime.

By the way, badges boosting Pokémon stats is a thing in the games up until Gen 3.

Red managed to win the badge, but that Pikachu is either too high lv or this was a clear ass pull.
