Oh God, they were really in a though situation, Tanabe's intervention felt like a deus ex machina, but at least it show how much Hoshino wants to cut his relations with others to be free and to conquer space.
Omg that was beautiful. How perfect that its Tanabe and crew to save him after his struggle so far. I literally got tears. And theres literally a plethora of reason for the team to be there... especially with how much time had passed since the accident. So i don't think ppl complaining about the "convenience" of that to be an issue
Really intrigues me that astronauts can be so confident and full of themselves when they dedicate their life towards space but when at the brink of death they start to remember things they left behind for the sake of their dream and make their dying regrets. It seems that Hachi is fighting against this idea but his affection towards Tanabe, who serves as a reminder that he is ultimately a human being in the end, starts to cloud his dedication. Real interesting internal conflict there.
