Planetes Chapter 7 Discussion

I like Tanabe. I hope to know more things about her soon.

The new girl certainly has some fire inside her.

I fucking hate Tanabe. I don't know if my opinion about her will change after I complete this.

I find Tanabe annoying even in the anime but she is more tolerable here. I sort of understand her way of thinking though, herself being fresh from Earth into space, her ideals are earthbound which majority of the astronauts have already abandoned. I think she is an essential character especially for Hachimaki since it's a clash of ideals between unrequited love for space vs. the inevitable longing to return to one's cradle (Earth)

Nice to see a beginner astronaut introduced in the story, now we can see how it feels to make our first step as austronaut.



Interesting to see how much Hoshino's way of thinking and Tanabe's way of thinking are opposite, it's like in the previous chapter with Hoshino and his father. Don't know which one I approve. I can easily understand why Hoshino wants to discover the space and just escape from Earth to fulfill his dreams. But I can also understand why Tanabe thinks it's egoism to leave Earth all alone and to dedicate all your life to your job when you have a family to take care.



I think I'm more on the side of Tanabe though.

Ah so now we finally get to see Tanabe.

Off-topic: since I've started reading this, the space-impact thing, gravity and the likes is better off as an animation, so the enjoyment factor goes to A* while the story and logic to M*

gosh.. Tanabe looks like a guy..

Her eyes and eyebrows are too sharp. Besides, her hair style is very short.

Although she gradually becomes more cuter(?) in following chapters, I prefer anime ver of Tanabe..
