I was happy that it seemed to be a happy ending for the characters because of everything they've gone through. But I just find it to be lazy that they bring Bandou (who I really rooted for and loved), Anna, and that Vash-looking assassin back without any explanation to why it happened. But screw it,it's a happy ending that was well deserved.

Needless to say that manga is 99999999 times better than the adaptation. And this ending is pretty bright and touching.

Isn't it?

I love the fact Kouta doesn't forgive her so easily in the manga too, and actually got pretty close to pure hate. That is how I would react if someone killed me family members too, I wouldn't want to be friends with that person for sure.

Another thing is inconsistency in the anime with the manga. The anime shows Lucy as a fairly weak Diclonius for the original. I would expect her to at least kill Mariko but she got pounded in the anime fairly badly. Lucy is a psychopath in the manga, I like that. Also, Nana is badass in the manga, and purple hair suits her far more than bright pink. Progression is also handled better in the manga with less "Forceful" plot turns.

Anime nailed the atmosphere with the music/sound effects though. If it was extended to 24-36 episodes I imagine it could have been much better.

I'm alright with spy woman's survival, as her death wasn't shown and I like how she herself said that she doesn't know how really she's survived. Also I was wondering what Kakuzawa meant when he said he is not a cruel father, so I'm relieved it was explained when Anna regained her body. But actually I don't much care about these characters. Regarding Bantou and Kurama, I think they are both dead and they come back as imaginations of the girls, just for a farewell party. I love how it was shown from Wanta's perception, the dog is so cute.

That melting thing was very disturbing... However I like the way it ended. It looks like the horned body with the evil presence has died and now the girls finally have chance to lead a normal happy life in separate bodies. I'm sure they will be part of Kouta's harem and his daughter Nyu will be one of his wifes as well. It's Elfen Lied after all. Great series.

I've finally been able to read the manga after watching the anime classic after it was completed. The manga was way better as it really goes in deph. And thanks to the guy up there for explaining the last part on the mountain. The naming of the girls confused me.

Personally though, the only things that bother me are Banto's ressuection and KoutaxYuka( though it was leaning that way sinc nyuu was gone) Amazing sad story. The gore didn't faze me the least nor Lucy's melting since it is part of the story and adds to the sadness during her death.

I'm really glad I read the manga to finish off the story from where the anime left off with. Even if the ending was weird, it ended memorably.

As I reread the ending again, the letter and her reincarnation seems to fit perfectly.

I don't care, after so much suffering and grotesque scenes, this was a great end to the series, Bando coming back as the terminator completely fitting and endearing. At last, they meet again.
