Yeah, it definitely seems out-of-character for the series thus far. Although, working that in with the sci-fi elements could prove to be interesting.

Izumi ran out of ammo in his automatic weapons but he still managed to kill Sakurai while he was receiving the full brunt of his psychic powers. He took too long to kill him and he paid for that mistake with his life...

Well, if they all end up in the room, thats going to be awkward XD I can see one of them killing Izumi right away.
