----------------------------------------

Okay, in the last few chapters I've kept saying, 'They'll fix it, don't worry' over and over but this is getting really really frustrating.  This whole thing with Takatsuki is driving me up the wall.  I really hope that she pulls away from it, but I'm having a few doubts.  The way she reacted to getting hit on in the supermarket was so...  I mean we know she's attracted to men what with the crush she had on her teacher, but I would have thought she'd be too uncomfortable with the notion of being pretty and cute that she wouldn't consider its appeal toward the opposite sex.

The mii-tan's dad (I forget his name) and Nitori segments pleased me a lot more, some pretty good character building for the former and some strong reinforcement of Shuu's transgender feelings what with the way he thought back to the grandpa talking about the softness of a girl's skin.  I don't know where his story is going to go, but I am far more optimistic about this considering he's been stuck in boymode at the boy's school for what feels like forever now.

Still, the final comment from Chiba telling Takatsuki to embrace cuteness made me flip out again.  10/10 Shimura Takako, you fucking trolled me good.

I for one enjoy the latest developments. Takatsuki's plotline is refreshingly different from Nitori's and you gotta respect Shimura for exploring so many different aspects of gender identity.

- Mii-tan's dad conforms to social norms

- Yuki fought against social norms and became a woman

- Nitori is most likely going to follow Yuki's path

- Takatsuki discovers the girl in herself

Yeah, I'll give you that, but while legit transgirls are rare enough in manga (usually the best you get is the annoying gender bender character like Hideyoshi in Baka to Test) finding even a single decent example of a transboy character is almost impossible, so while I respect Shimura's decisions here, it's still a little frustrating.  It's a matter of what I want against what is best and it's just a bit hard to accept that this is probably going in a decent direction.  Maybe this could be settled halfway by leaving her identifying as genderqueer?  I still reckon Mii-tan's Dad is going to become less conforming to social norms though.  This sort of stuff is not really possible to keep boxed up for long...

Also now that you mention her, it doesn't feel like we've seen Yuki for a while.  She was neat, I hope she comes back.  Something tells me she will come back at a point when both takatsuki and nitori are in need of advice, which I think will be pretty soon.  I mean both of them are pretty conflicted now; Shuu is beginning to realise he needs his girl side more and more despite repressing it and Yoshino is probably feeling anxious at the fact that she is enjoying being girly for once when she used to be so determined to be a boy that she at one point actually thinks 'I want a dick'.

There's a storm brewing and I think only Yuki will be able to fix it.  Especially considering Shuu's mum in the previous chapter.
