Trashed the GOI in an offscreen fight and the battle after that was pretty boring as well. Ajeel and Wahl were the only ones who delivered so far.

The fight, what little we saw of it, was hardly boring. But then Acnologia appeared and everyone else were insects before him.

Brandish was a lap-dog all along.

"We're in the middle of a war and you want to let your prisoner run free? I have warned you about your naive thinking. One day it just may cost you your life. I have no intention of becoming your friend or confidant, so I'd appreciate it if you left me alone."

This one quote redeemed Brandish in my eyes.

Yeah, I guess so but one quote doesn't redeem 95% of her terrible character >.< (unless someone likes the fanservice)

punching a god was okay. Because he used a little bit of his fire-dragon-king-mode (the sealed magic in his arm. That's what my thought.) and the whitewashing of gray, it was just part of the avatar arc. Because Gray became aware of the devil slaying magic that's why she asked Porlyusica to heal her. Too bad it was an off-screen scene. Those two are okay. Okay just sayin.

That wasn't even a real god. It was just a summon that was a bit bigger than the Celestial Spirit King.

What he said.

The only real god that's performed as one so far is Ankhseram.

But we have no idea who or what he actually is.

I think he is the actual 'God' interpretation of FT, different from what we've been told about.

God Serena definitely wasn't the strongest in the Spriggans. I would say he was in the middle, I think.

As for this week's chapter, it was like any other. At this point of time, every Spriggan or new antagonist Mashima will introduce will feel insignificant in front of Zeref and Acnologia. But I'm still hoping the Spriggans will somehow redeem themselves.

Yeah. I agree. The Spriggans haven't really done anything much yet, have they? We've only really seen Ajeel in a fight. Serena trashed Ishgar's top 4 wizard saints and then got oneshotted by Acnologia. I'll say their defeats were done quite well. It's only Brandish whose portrayal I found disappointing. But she's a very complex character. We have only seen glimpses of Bradman and August's powers and those were pretty great. As for Invel, Jacob and Neinhart, we don't know what they can do. There are 2 more yet to be introduced. So I'm not going to judge them yet.

This week's chapter was mostly a setup. Hopefully we get to see some good fights next.

Trashed the GOI in an offscreen fight and the battle after that was pretty boring as well. Brandish was a lap-dog all along and Dimaria is pretty much a perverted sadist (though that rape face after Wendy kicks her might just be a chance of hope that she doesn't becomes like Brandish). Ajeel and Wahl were the only ones who delivered so far.

As for the rest I do agree they are pretty powerful but they haven't done anything so far, however I will not outright judge them.

But still, bringing Acnologia into the equation pretty much takes away ALL the hype from the Spriggans so he should've actually been introduced later on in the war.

I actually disagree. It's been how many chapters since he said he's done waiting and that he'll join the fight? Quite a few. If he took too long to show up people would then argue where is Acnologia and what's keeping him from showing up already. The same way they keep asking about Jellal and Crime Sorciere.

Hmm. You can never please everyone, I suppose. Actually Acnologia shouldn't have been shown to be taking part in this war at all. His appearance means THE END for all the unfortunate "lesser beings" nearby. I've said this before too.

I agree with both points.

BGMaxie said:
After August's declaration, now it is all the more clear to me. Zeref will get Fairy Heart and with it, will pulverize Acnologia and then he will become the Final Boss for real.

Low chances of that, I think. We don't even know the outcome of this war so there's a possibility Zeref won't get Fairy Heart at all but it could be that Mavis or some other FT member activates Fairy Heart to provide a boost to everyone to defeat Acnologia. However, I do believe the final villain will be either Acnologia or Ankhseram.

Edit : Not used to the multi-quote function. Someone please teach me :3

I don't think Wendy's at any risk of being 'stripped' by Dimaria. Mashima has been pretty good about keeping Wendy fanservice to a minimum. So either Wendy isn't her 'type', or she'll start fighting seriously.

It was kind of left up in the air during the Avatar arc regarding whether or not she could go full Dragon Force at will, and this chapter more or less proves she can -- she was only pulling on a little of it's power during Avatar as evident by the fact that she didn't grow the wing pieces she has now and had during the Ezel battle.

But we probably won't see more of that battle for a couple of chapters. There are a lot of FT members on that front and only two Spriggan, so it's possible the Sky Sisters won't fight alone against Dimaria. So for now lets just see what happens with Laxus.

Please, for the love of God. Don't employ fanservice of Wendy or Chelia. I'm begging you, Mashima.

Um...a bit late for that?  Remember Natsu melting Chelia's clothes two arcs ago?  Wendy's bdsm outfit from the omake?  Wendy's ass shot from the ova?

People taking Dimaria tactics so serious only because of her title but can't even realise what type of manga is this...

I guess we will also expect Jacob to start cutting everyones head, injecting deadly poison and start shooting people with guns because he's an assassin, hell people might actually be waiting for that since he's looks like Jason Statham and Agent 47...

Like, I don't want to sound rude but please, just because this is a "war" doesn't mean heads will start flying around, remember that where talking about a series where the authour revived Lisanna for absolutely nothing but as a morale boost for Mira and Elfman...

this is the comment ive been asking for

Honestly I think fanbases jump to conclusions WAY too early. I mean, people are talking about the spriggans being disappointing but last time I checked, only 2/12 have been defeated, and 1 by a ridicously OP non fairy tail member. I think i'll wait for some more Spriggan defeats before I cast judgement.

The Spriggans just aren't delivering the hype anymore. They haven't really done anything in awhile. I wouldn't have much of a problem it Hiro actually showed them more of a threat. Brandish was a complete letdown in terms of how her story was so easily rushed and only made to side with Fairy Tail since she was a fan favorite. DiMaria has done nothing but strip women of their clothing and get kicked in the face by Wendy of all people.. Azeel was decent but was defeated too early however his defeat did make sense and it had sone teamwork. Serena being killed by Acno was correct I mean it's freaking Acnologia but as big of a threat Serena was his presence REALLY short.

I was expecting an actual war with different guilds fighting the Spriggans. We have the setup but that's it. I mean these are the Spriggan 12.. Hiro hyped them up to be the most powerful threat yet however I felt more hyped and more interest when Fairy Tail battled the Demon Gates. Because it was a hard fought back n forth battle. The demons were pushing Fairy Tail to its limits and desperation and keep in mind the demons were considered rejects by Zeref.

Now none of that is happening. Hell Dimaria pretty much let Kagura go back and regathering forces and guess who's with her now? Erza. This won't end well for the Spriggans. It's not the fact Acnologia is stealing the thunder away but the Spriggans since Azeel haven't done anything. Great designs and decent powers but unfortunately Hiro isn't using it any of that potential

I understand what you're saying, I really do. But i feel like you are exactly proving my point.

You are making these statements in the midst of the story's development. For example, you say the Spriggans haven't done anything, but that's because we aren't even at the point in the story where they can do anything -the war is still in it's developmental stage. Azeel was sort of an appetizer, and Serena was killed off by acnologia. Besides those 2, we haven't even begun to taste the extent of the Spriggan's abilities. Of course, regarding this, you can make the complaint that Hiro is taking too long "setting things up", which would be a legitimate claim. But this is distinctly different from your criticism of the development of these characters or the arc itself, when said development hasn't advanced much past its initial stage. It's akin to judging a 10 chapter book after reading the first 2 chapters. I think the crux of the problem is that we only get one chapter a week, and we want action, or our respective senses of satisfaction. And when we don't get what we want to see, we feel somewhat disappointed. But in fact, each chapter is but a puzzle piece of a the holistic story that is this arc; a portion of the whole should judged in light of the entire context, which we don't have. But the problem with a lot of fans is that they extend their weekly reactions to the entire work itself, and these feelings do not change despite redeeming developments that occur later, so they gradually develop into a type of distorted opinion(not saying this is you, just explaining my point). For example, you could say that Hiro is taking too long "setting things up", but you can't make a definitive conclusion on this until you see what he is setting up for. Similarly, you say Tartaros pushed FT while the Spriggans did not, but actually we aren't even at the point in the story where FT can be pushed or not-pushed. The idea is that you want to see it happen now whilst in a state where you have to wait a week for 20 pages of possible development and satifisfaction, but this is impossible. Not saying the work is perfect and flawless; my point is criticisms should be made in the right context.

And that context is...when?  The end of the arc?  The series?  What's the point of having chapter discussions if it's too soon to talk about the content of the chapter?

Jesus christ people still bitching about so called destroying Brandish's character when it was proven from introduction that she's a MASSIVE dork? Wow you people really love blaming Mashima for your own misguided delusions

Are you serious right now?

So Brandish is a dork, Dimaria is stupidly forced fanservice, Serena is a clown, Azeel is whatever, August's title is just for show etc etc. So by your logic you are at the very least admitting that Spriggans are an utter failure as an interesting group and don't really pose any threat? As in, they are filler and not entertaining? And somehow this is classified as "reader's delusions" and NOT bad writing?

Wow.....

I never said anything about Dimaria or August. DOn't put words in my mouth. Look at all past arcs. You mourned the destruction of Brandish's character when nothing of the sort happened. She was questionable from the start the moment she first went wobbly lipped over the destroyed stand and the lack of interest in actually FIGHTING. Tell me what type of characters were always defeated first? Was it not the most flamboyant and special snowflakes? Like Vidaldus during the Tower of heaven arc. Remember him? Remember how we didn't learn SQUAT about him?

When it comes to FT members, I've learned enough by now to not pay attention to death flags. So it should be  DiMaria vs. Wendy, Sherria, Kagura and Erza now. That should work. Gajeel & Levy- nice little moment there. Liked Freed's new hairstyle:) So he's not out yet. We have Makarov, Mavis, Lucy, Cana and Freed in the guild. Is that enough to stop 2 Spriggans. Probably not. Back to the eastern front, after giving that speech on how "It's painful to lose a comrade", August just leaves Serena for dead.

And finally the most important part. LAXUS. I wondered how he didn't have any lasting effects from sucking up the poison. Now I know. That's probably why he was rarely seen while at Blue Pegasus. Laxus vs. Wahl should be interesting. what bothers me is that we never get to see Laxus at full power. During Dragon invasion he'd just fought a long battle and was badly injured. In Tartaros he twoshotted Tempesta and then got poisoned and was out for the rest of the arc. Now he's suffering from lasting damage from the poisoning. Of the FT members right now he's the only one who can solo a Spriggan. It's overall some less than good writing. If he hadn't suffered this damage it would have been plot armour. Now that he has, it's deliberate destruction of a powerful character

Everyone else talking about important plot elements and I' just sitting here like YES GaLe WOOO HOOO! God Levy was so cute with Gajeel watching over her. Still not better than Lucy hugging Natsu from behind in GMG though, can't wait to see what NaLu moment is coming this arc. Ships are about to sail my friends, oh what a glorious horizon!

i only read the raws for now, Laxus is sweating there as if he has some illness and Laxus will battle that robot/machine magic user

Hey may i ask where you get the raws? I find I'd much rather read the original language than some translation(albeit mangastream isn't horrible).
