Technically, the more fight scenes, the less dialogue which would mean less reading time. This in turn would cut the amount of time it takes to read a chapter, unless you look at fight scene panels for quite a while. The Tartarus arc has been mostly fight related chapters so I do understand why you feel that way. However, the length of the chapters is still the same.

Gildarts theorized from the start back at Tenrou that Acnologia saw them as less than insects so he would never bother talking to them.



Acnologia said it this chapter that he acknowledges Igneel as his opponent. So it's clear the guy has an Ego the size of the solar system and is likely much more intelligent than we were led to believe thus far.

I do agree with you that Gray definitely has one of the heartbreaking stories of fairy tail, better than the first gen dragonslayers (natsu, wendy, etc), that's for sure.
