Except that ITS SPELLED OUT IN THIS CHAPTER BY Natsu that even he is surprised he can avoid and fight someone he NEVER fought before.

But Mard did give out a HUGE sinister smile when Natsu called himself Igneel's son.  Interestingly  ONLY THEN did he decide to fast-forward face, for whatever  reason.
