Oda has said he doesn't like to kill off his characters because death is not big enough of a punishment.





I read somewhere that Oda states that Luffy fights with the intent of severe punishment, such as completely undermining the goals and ambitions of said opponent as the character believe that it's a worse punihsment than death (he'd rather have them see their "dreams" fall apart themselves), which make sense if you look at the character.

Kidding~ But seriously, I knew Wendy wouldn't die. But it was still a nice moment. Death isn't completely necessary in a series like FT, it's more "light hearted" so I'm totally fine with it. 'twas an alright chapter overall, the pedophile Mest was obviously watching the whole thing :P

After 378 chapters you're only JUST figuring this out? I mean, come on- This is the series that created a whole alternate dimension just to bring back a character that was dead when the series started, ahahahaha.

The only death we've witnessed was Ultear's, sadly.



But yeah, like Talk no Jutsu from Naruto where every villains get charmed by words and sacrifice themselves for the greater cause, here we have PLOT ARMOR, every character that is important for the fanservice will never be killed off. That's something that really piss me of in both series
