Very nice chapter indeed, but was it really necessary to build up this scene so much only to break it down afterwards?

While I don't want them to die, if you build it up that much (and it was build up well) then go through with it. I feel like some death one way or another is necessary and yet they get saved at the very end.

Damn Mashima-sensei sure works harder than any mangaka since December he has release a lots of chapters and now this 2 amazing chapters and i really thought that Wendy and Carla would be dead till the last moment even showing flashback to troll us

Hiro trolling everyone with faking the side characters deaths, it would take guts if he killed off Natsu in the end while the rest live.

For a minute there, I thought Mashima was gonna reveal a plot point that Exceeds are immune to explosions and just have Carla protect Wendy....as much as that would explain Happy's afro from back then....I would've been pissed. I am glad Doranbolt was one to save Wendy though, their connection made it fitting.
