Skip Beat! Chapter 253 Discussion

  • #2
This chapter was so short! 21 pages? From the usual 30. I had looked forward to it so much but it was so brief. I think I might need to take like a half year break from Skip Beat or something because great as the pacing and story may be, reading small chunks of it with 30 day breaks in between is kind of getting to me now. I used to live for Skip Beat back in the day when I was binge reading it. My heart would literally race as I went chapter to chapter. I need that rush again. The wait is killing my enjoyment of this arc. We can't have that now can we?

Given all the things we know about Kimiko (Yashiro's experience with her when she was working with Ren, how the bodyguards describe her, how she acts and thinks…) and the expression she had after spying Kyoko’s performance, which caught Yashiro’s attention, I really don’t think she just gave up on the audition. She wanted the role of Chidori, she didn’t have it, she wanted the role of Momiji, she failed but ended up attacking the winner just so she could have it. Then, she fails again. Will she really back off when she is capable of doing such things? When she was so persistent to have a role in the drama?

It seems more likely that she will do something nefarious to Kyoko and is trying to alleviate whatever suspicion others could have regarding her, so she acts all nice and fair, praising Kyoko’s intelligence, dedication and skills. Then, after having gently capitulated, she can formulate a plan and attack Kyoko. And she may think that since she backed off so gracefully, with what could be described as fairness and good-will towards Kyoko, nobody will suspect her. Though, in my opinion, it would still be highly suspect that both Momiji.s had an accident after winning the role. But then, some could conclude that the other participants are potential culprit too. And why would the kind Kimiko Morizumi have done such a thing?

On the other hand, I wonder what Kyoko intends to do (she really is furious) and if the favour Erika is asking her bodyguard has something to do with protecting Kyoko or maybe ensuring that Kimiko’s plans remain unsuccessful.

The wait is killing me, but it’s worth it for me; I really like where the manga is going. I like the slow pace and the fact that Nakamura-sensei doesn’t feel the need to hurry things along unnecessarily.

Kyoko finds out that there is nothing between Ren and  Kimiko  It was all part of Kimiko;s scheme to get someone else. Kimiko was willing to maim Erika when she could not get the part of Momiji Now she has apparently dropped out of the Momiji competition but Yashiro is not sure  because she looked angry not defeated

She probably has a scheme up her sleeve Kyokuo is now furious at  Kimiko and is not going to take anymore shit from her. Erika is found and removed from hiding by her father

I guess she decided she didn't want the part anymore after she made contact with the Ren hater.

I wonder what Kyoko will do to her? And what the girl in the wheelchair's father will do to Niko once he finds out what she did.

                        ----------------------------------------

The two left because Mouko-san thinks the two guys are annoying.

The rival girl got realized of checking up, which it seems like she "broke the rule" (not sure what the director did to her... disqualified?).

The girl on the wheelchair been found out by her father, who is worried sick about her running away in secret to investigate the audition.

Kyoko, after hearing those two men in black's investigation, is very scary and starts to act?
