Given all the things we know about Kimiko (Yashiro's experience with her when she was working with Ren, how the bodyguards describe her, how she acts and thinks…) and the expression she had after spying Kyoko’s performance, which caught Yashiro’s attention, I really don’t think she just gave up on the audition. She wanted the role of Chidori, she didn’t have it, she wanted the role of Momiji, she failed but ended up attacking the winner just so she could have it. Then, she fails again. Will she really back off when she is capable of doing such things? When she was so persistent to have a role in the drama?
It seems more likely that she will do something nefarious to Kyoko and is trying to alleviate whatever suspicion others could have regarding her, so she acts all nice and fair, praising Kyoko’s intelligence, dedication and skills. Then, after having gently capitulated, she can formulate a plan and attack Kyoko. And she may think that since she backed off so gracefully, with what could be described as fairness and good-will towards Kyoko, nobody will suspect her. Though, in my opinion, it would still be highly suspect that both Momiji.s had an accident after winning the role. But then, some could conclude that the other participants are potential culprit too. And why would the kind Kimiko Morizumi have done such a thing?
On the other hand, I wonder what Kyoko intends to do (she really is furious) and if the favour Erika is asking her bodyguard has something to do with protecting Kyoko or maybe ensuring that Kimiko’s plans remain unsuccessful.
The wait is killing me, but it’s worth it for me; I really like where the manga is going. I like the slow pace and the fact that Nakamura-sensei doesn’t feel the need to hurry things along unnecessarily.
