The picture was taken when Kyoko was in deep trance mode after seeing her mom on TV. That's when Sho took advantage and kissed her...
Seen this mentioned a few times and I don't think he was tring to take advantage of the situation at all.
Sho is a terrible person...but that wasn't what was going on. He saw that she had gone from ready to cry to having dead eyes. He kissed her to snap her out of it by making her angry...he even says to her that she should have gotten angry and punched/kicked him, he expected that reaction.
As for his personal motivation beyond that...that's more complex... a mix of self interest and genuine caring. Sho still thinks he has power over her/possesses her, the non-sick part of him that genuinely cares for her can't stand to see her cry and/or in such a state. He is compelled to do something in response, even if that something is selfish and stupid. He can't stand by and do nothing (like he did as a kid because he didn't know what to do then. This is further ground in by the flash back of them talking at the studio during his MV and him being shocked at learning that she went off to cry by herself as a child. That knowledge obviously still bothers him, because it was his fault due to his inability to act/respond. All of this is tied into the fact that in a twisted way the asshole not only cares, but is in love with her even if he refuses to recognize it himself. He seeks reactions and control over her because of this. It'll be a longtime coming if he ever does understand his own feelings. Kyoko is inherently tied to everything he tried to leave behind and hated about his old life and family. Kyoko is a constant reminder because of their childhood and his parents intention to have him marry her. As such, she became an easy outlet for his abuse and frustration due to no fault of her own. At this point he can't truly separate her from the things he hated about himself and that life.
I personally hate Sho, he's a selfish prick, but he's also complex character that doesn't even realize his own motivations.
