-sigh- This chapter just adds to my frustration, because INSTEAD OF ADVANCING THE RELATIONSHIP, THE STUPID MANGAKA CONTINUES TO PULL US ALONG ADVANCING NOTHING.
At this point, I'm hoping Reino will just force himself on her just so I can see SOMETHING happen. -_- Baka, not giving Ren chocolate. D:
FYI,many, many things actually happen.Major development with regard to Kyoko's feelings. Her decision not to give chocolates to Ren should make you happy because it means SO much stuff.A great push to the romance. The fact that she erased him from her list makes me scream in fangirlistic couple-shipping joy(i'm a hardcore RenxKyoko fangirl).
This manga IS advancing. The developments/character development are excellent and done with mastery, and that's one of the reasons that make SB stand out among the majority of the rest shoujo(<-typically lovey-dovey,with feelings of "love" being born from nowhere, etc*barfs*).Oh,and last but not least, romance is only one part of this manga.During the Natsu arc we could see a great progress concerning Kyoko and her acting skills,as well as her maturing(which is actually the "purpose" of the manga-her maturing wholly as a person, that is).So I don't see "nothing happening".If you want a rushedsuper-paced,romance-fully-packed manga then obviously SB isn't for you.
Wow. I wouldn't call this rushed if after 140+ chapters, something finally happens romantically. Sitting through that many chapters where nothing romantic ever evolves is infuriating. I know that Skip Beat isn't a manga I really enjoy. The only reason I keep reading it is because I want to see who she ends up with, if anyone.
Yeah, and I don't honestly care about her advancing her acting because it's incredibly boring, because each arc, the same thing happens. She gets stuck in a role, thinks about it forever, somehow finds some miraculous inspiration, and apparently is the best actress people have ever seen. Yeah.
And how does not giving Ren chocolate mean anything in the advancement of romance? It's the complete opposite. Anyway, maybe I'm just sick of all these shoujo with completely dense female leads that make me want to stab them in the face. -_-
At least Bokura Ga Ita is starting back up again next month. *_*
Well,Skip Beat isn't your typical lovey-dovey shoujo. It's about a completely immature, hysteric and selfish but strong girl,Kyoko and her way to maturing, realizing things about herself and the world around(which until she was awfully treated/betrayed by Shoutaro couldn't "see") her.Its romance part is well-built,not slow. The situation Ren faces, his feelings and trials to control are portrayed with mastery, well done!Kyoko's situation is too greatly developed.Everything is done according to their personalities and circumstances;the characters really do have a personality and they act accordingly.Excellent job. You find acting boring and repetitive,ok.For you it may be boring but...repetitive?She wins yeah but every time learns/understands something different and progresses more. That's the main point of her "win".Actually,so far she has only been troubled about her roles officially two times:with Mio and Natsu. You'll say about Sho's PV etc,but it's not the same with her actual acting challenges.I can analyze it thoroughly if you want but i suppose you don't really care^^v And no,she's not seen by others as the "best actress they've eve seen".People stay amazed and shocked by her unexpected interpretations but not because she wonderfully excels in acting oh-so-much;she still needs much, much work.
About Ren and the chocolate-thingy:
One reason is that he wouldn't eat it because she thought he isn't the type to eat "chocolate or sweet things"(<-that's quite a minor reason and just a made-up excuse by Kyoko though) but i think there's another reason too.Imho, she thought that giving him chocolate even as a gratitude Valentine gift would feel like she's giving it to him because she actually likes him-romantically;it/she would feel like it is a Honmei chocolate instead of a gratitude one,so she doesn't want such a thing. She immediately denies it.Even though there's really no reason why would it/she feel that she has feelings for him by giving him gratitude chocolate, she thinks that way.I believe it's because she actually slowly really starts having feelings for him/her feelings for him awaken,so she tries to "prevent" even this kind of impression/feeling.
Also, for a moment she mixed up his birthday gift for a Valentine's present in her mind so she doesn't want to "go" to that direction(<-of giving him an actual Valentine's present even if it's a gratitude Valentine one) again.<-This connects in a way to what i say above.I don't know if i'm understood in what i'm trying to say.
"Completely dense"?No,not exactly.Kyoko might be slow at love etc but the reason she seems so oblivious is that she's completely in denial. It's a defense mechanism which she uses consciously and unconsciously at the same time.Kyoko is hardly "another dense shoujo heroine".
Anyway, probably SB isn't for you;it's not all about the romance(And thank God for that).
