Well, that's what the tough times do to someone. Einar can't be blamed.

Though I'm sure Thorfinn will be disappointed knowing even that last person who supported him and his ideas throughout ultimately gave in the end.

It sure is sad seeing him in this state. Einar broke awhile ago when the first sign of the settlement failing showed. He is tired of losing his home and running, and Arnheid’s village meant so much to him, so he made a decision to fight. He has no experience or strength, same goes for all the villagers that decided the same thing, and there is blood on all their hands. If not for Vargar, who knows how many of them would still be alive.

It’s just a sad state of affairs, who knows how everything would’ve played out if things had they been just a bit different (like if Ivar wasn’t in the picture).

There’s nothing wrong with killing in self defense. They did the right thing.

Einar has killed...

Although he had no choice, in the end his pride and selfishness in protecting the land of Arheid overshadowed Thorfinn's desire for a land without violence or war.

That last panel was disturbing on the part of Einar's character, simply incredible...

Absolutely gut-wrenching chapter. Such a complex moral dilemma with no right answer. Seeing Einar succumb to violence was awful, but you can't help but root for the Nords atp, seeing the reinforcements arrive had me so hype and I hate myself for it.

Yukimura might genuinely end this manga with the message "reality is violence". I just really can't see Thorfinn fixing this.
