So the battle lines slowly starting to be drawn. I wonder when the war with the natives will start. It’s obviously being set up to be based on the vision of European colonisation. If only the natives would’ve been successful IRL

thorfinn is the greatest anti-hero/protagonist ever

and thus critical thinking or skepticism was invented to counter apocalypse prophecies or religion lol

Thorfinn roasting his pursuers lol. Fun chapter, that ''Thorfinn becomes a ''true warrior'' like his father Thors, at last'' sounds pure hype!

Another disappointing chapter and one that kinda comes completely out of nowhere. It seriously stretches my suspension of disbelief that Thorfinn could essentially just stand there and criticise their entire religion and the foundations of their belief system with no consequence, and it's obvious that this was done to further force home Thorfinn's pacifist message regardless of whether it makes sense or not. Also, the representation of the Norns is insultingly dumb, even if it is Thorfinn's imagination of them.

This manga continues to disappoint more and more as it progresses, and this chapter was a bad way of wasting time.

Kinda abrupt chapter if I say, for all that momentum we felt in last one, I was hoping they'd continue it on from there. But it was just about one of those crews, which I thought we had enough of long time ago. Nevermind though, let's see how the next chapter plays now.

The hate this arc is getting is ridiculous and kinda similar to the hate the farming arc had when the chapters were coming every month. Yes reading vinland saga's chapters month to month isn't the ideal way because the pace of the story is very slow, but that's how the series has been since day one. I don't get why people are still complaining, if you don't like what's happening drop the manga or wait for the arc to get done.

Now about this chapter, it's not the best one of course but it's pretty good and standard vinland saga. It's good in how it comes to create the contrast with the previous chapter which was an outside look to the themes of the story regardless of what the character will achieve. And that's very great in my opinion because this chapter points out the uncertainty of thorfin's goal, and that is what gives meaning too his project, in contrast to those who follow already written paths. This chapter is showing hopw much happiness is felt by those who fight for something that is yet unknown to happen and more than that very likely not to happen, and those who just wait for the tragedy to happen without doing anything. We can clearly see that thorfin is the happiest he has ever been while struggling against the whole kinda "deterministic" nature of war and slavery, but unless you fail you could never, from a human non omnipotent perspective, know that you didn't have chances to succeed. Reaching vinland as a concept may be impossible but trying to reach it will make your life fulfilling and full of happiness. After all, as it was stated so many times in the course of the story, there is more to life than only atrocities and and tragedies, one can still give meaning to his life within such a cruel world.

This manga is not about mythology🤷‍♂️, it is about what the characters can see and do in the real world. The author is not insulting anybody. For pure mythology, we have another stories and books.
