Vinland Saga Chapter 9 Discussion

                        Ok... Now I see how the whole Askelaad killing his father pieces in... Though now I think the person he should direct his vengeance on is that other guy that hired Askelaad.

It hasn't even been 10 chapters but I have really high expectations for the character of Askeladd. He's the most interesting and enjoyable one so far, for sure. I hope his demeanour stays this intriguing in the chapters to come.

I found the hidden soldier and the price negotiation scene to be exciting to read and I can't ever get enough of those short but tense mindgames and Askeladd is the kind of character I'd expect to stay interesting and somewhat unpredictable in his erractic insidious ways of getting the best out of the situation for himself.



I hope that we will get to know more players in this historical narrative and powerplay that compete with Thorfinn and Askeladd for some greater accomplishments.



It might get boring to focus just on these two characters later on.

Looks definitely like Askeladd is an interesting character itself. I suppose he will be a driving force for the early part of the manga (up to the mid-point?).

Askeladd seems to be a pretty decent character, now that we know who wanted Thorfinn's dad assassinated I don't think Askeladd is that bad of a guy.

Askelad is a crazy bastard but he certainly ain't no fool. I find him an intriguing character.
