Her parents had divorced before her birth and her mother died. Due to her grandfather's death, she had to seek refuge with her father. However, she was humiliated by her stepmother and younger sister, and was forced to enroll in the only cohabitation school—Rockefeller College. In the symbiotic region, the powerful vampires were the superior beings. However, Cecily was mocked and ostracized at Rockefeller College. Yet, the vampires of noble ranking not only helped her but also stuck by her and even curried favor with her.
