Defiance Isa Aradale a 16th century imperial crown princess and daughter of the Wolf king Emperor, Alexander Lucian and White Witch, Janessa thought that being on the run and in hiding in the 21st century with her uncle Judd was going to be the hardest thing she ever has to do but it turns out that being a twenty-first century teenager was even more difficult and as cherry on top she falls in love with two Alpha bloods both willing to move heaven and earth for her.
Now, she has to choose between the fun loving but somewhat heartless king of white oak highschool, the future Alpha of his pack, Conrad or Conrad's best friend the red haired secret nerd, Jeremy that she can't stop thinking about.
What will she do?
Will Defiance go back to her century to battle, werewolf, vampires and witches? or will she tough it out and make a choice?
The simplest decision might be the hardest choice she has to make.

A peek from the book
Jeremy pulled away almost immediately. He stared at her like she was a two headed monster and he was just realizing it for the first time or maybe he was watching himself through her iris and he was the two headed monster.
He exhaled again and again. This was bad. This was so bad, what kind of a friend kisses his best friend's girlfriend?
A dick!
He answered for himself. He was getting a hold of his senses again, even took a step back from her but then he heard her voice.
"W-what…what was that for?"
She sounded out of breath like she had run a marathon or something.
"Why did you do that?" She asked him again.
"I don't..I don't know"
"Are you toying with me, Jeremy?"
"Did that feel like I was toying with you? Staying away from you is the hardest thing I have done in a long time, Diddy"
He pulled away to look at her but then he saw the look of horror in her eyes. He followed her gaze and found Conrad standing behind him.
"Conrad!" Defiance covered her mouth.
"You son of a bitch!" Conrad's punch was parked with so much force that Jeremy staggered and fell to the ground.
"Conrad" Defiance tried to touch him.
He turned to her sharply, his iris the brightest she had ever seen. It was a warning glare.
"Don't you dare! You know what? You both deserve each other!"
Conrad turned around and started walking away.
Defiance covered her mouth immediately as tears streamed down her face.
"Conrad!" She called out to him one more time.
Jeremy stood up from the ground and he tried to touch her but she took a step back.
"Not right now, Jeremy…please, go home

Akkan Baby is a unique case. As a (former) outcasted high school student and a blossoming adult "woman," I can relate to the characters on many levels. Despite their traits often being exaggerated to extremes, all the characters are realistically tied into the main storyline. None of the adult characters ever downplay the challenges Shigeru and Yuki will face with having a baby, and I deeply respect the author for portraying all of them this way.
Writing a teenage pregnancy story about two well-meaning but naive children must be tough, balancing realism with cartoonish elements. However, the author handled it beautifully! It was refreshing to see a shoujo manga tackle drama not through a romantic quagmire but in a realistic manner, you know? I believe this is the kind of story young girls should read, and there should be more like it—stories that depict teen pregnancy as something serious yet not demonized.
The main characters were so sweet <3 Honestly, I teared up several times for Shigeru and everything she went through during her pregnancy. Yuki had an incredible character arc, and the best part is that he didn't need some grand transformation! I also adored the band members and even the principal, lol... There's truly a treasure trove of purity and sweetness in this manga. I wasn't expecting to be so impressed, but it genuinely made me happy! I think it's absolutely worth the read ^___^!

Story: 9
As mentioned earlier, the story's main draw is teen pregnancy. It raises some compelling points about parenting that I hadn't considered before. "Akkan Baby" also made me laugh a few times, though my sense of humor may be a bit unconventional compared to most people's.
Art: 7
This manga has a distinctly feminine art style, which I used to strongly dislike, refusing to read anything with a shoujo-like appearance. However, beyond the cover, much of the art wasn't too bad. Looking back, while reading the manga, I never really complained about the art being poor or overly cheesy, so nothing particularly stood out negatively.
Characters: 7
I genuinely liked the characters and would usually rate them higher. The only issue is that only the two main characters undergo significant development. Given the length of the manga, I can't fault the author for this limitation.
Enjoyment: 8
I thoroughly enjoyed this manga. It was the kind that made me pause during reading to reflect on what I had just read. Despite that, I ended up finishing it in one day, losing track of time as I delved into its pages.
Overall: 8
There isn't any glaring flaw or contradiction that undermines the entire story. I believe most people would enjoy this manga unless they are exclusively into extreme comedies with no depth or have recently experienced issues related to pregnancy or babies, which seems self-evident.
The artwork was fantastic and had me laughing numerous times! The story felt realistic (given the context of teenage pregnancy), and by the end, I was close to tears because it was so heartwarming and adorable. It's a truly well-crafted narrative, and I never saw the girl ending up in that situation!

Is the ending good? Does the main couple end up together? Is it worth my time?
I genuinely detest spoilers with every fiber of my being! Yet, I don't understand why I should invest my time in a story that concludes poorly or one where, despite all their struggles, the couple doesn't ultimately unite. Additionally, I dislike sifting through excessively lengthy, opinion-heavy reviews only to end up more confused than when I started, without finding the answers I sought, and often encountering unwelcome spoilers. Due to this, I aim to keep my reviews concise, focusing on answering these three questions.
So, let's get straight to the point. I'm providing completely spoiler-free answers with a simple YES or NO to the following questions:
Is the ending good? YES
Does the main couple end up together? YES
Is it worth my time? YES
If you prefer not to know the answers to these questions, you should stop reading immediately.
If you're like me—someone who simply wants to know whether the story is worth your time—please continue. Without further ado:
This story defies the conventions of a typical shoujo by introducing the uncommon theme of teen pregnancy. It approaches the subject with a light-hearted tone while offering significant character development, allowing the characters to evolve without altering their core essence—a feat that is both challenging and rare. Moreover, the relationship doesn't form at the conclusion of the story, as is often the case in shoujos, but rather begins at the start, enabling you to witness the couple's growth through their trials and tough decisions throughout the narrative. Initially, the characters may appear superficial and overly naive, but eventually, you can't help but care for them as the author skillfully deepens their personalities and allows them to tackle mature choices in a frequently humorous yet impactful manner, never undermining the gravity of their decisions.
Of course, this is purely my perspective, but I consider myself an average, rational, and romantic individual, just so you have an idea of who wrote this.
If you appreciate this style of review, I strive to write similar ones for all the anime and manga I've experienced, which you can find listed next to my name just above.
Thank you, you're welcome, and peace out.

Story 8/10: The inclusion of humor within the serious theme was well-handled. The characters provided unwavering support to each other. The storyline was skillfully crafted, clear, easy to follow, and flowed smoothly.
Art 8/10: The artwork was expressive and occasionally humorous. I appreciated how the mangaka depicted the characters' expressions throughout the series, maintaining gravity when needed.
Character 8/10: The characters were excellent—Yuki and Shigeru were endearingly goofy yet serious when it mattered, maturing as their situation demanded. The supporting characters were also likable, and all relevant perspectives were effectively explored.
Enjoyment 8/10: It was a delightful, quick read—I found myself laughing and touched by their positive outlook.
Overall 8/10: I would recommend it—it was a charming, concise shoujo experience.
Shigeru and Yuki were absolute goofballs—idiotic, naive, and utterly lovable throughout the story. They were having sex constantly in the first volume but had no clue what condoms were! As the plot progressed, both had to make some mature decisions while still maintaining their childlike nature, which stayed true to their characters.
The story was hilarious, with plenty of slapstick humor, but moments involving discussions between Yuki and Shigeru's respective parents added a serious undertone. A character introduced in the third volume, who was clearly meant to be disliked, revealed her humanity, proving she wasn't entirely cruel. Because of this, the manga earns a thumbs-up from me—it transcended the typical "bad guy" trope. It also conveyed an important message through Shigeru's classmates: if you're trying to help someone, don't exploit the situation for selfish reasons. I appreciated that there were no stereotypical character archetypes (like the shy kid, tsundere, or pervert). Though Yuki's character could be debated—he's your classic genki guy, reminding me of Luffy!
I genuinely enjoyed all the characters! Yuki is my favorite; his offbeat yet heartfelt reactions never failed to amuse me. The Conflict rock band members were fantastic too. Despite their wild personalities, they were incredibly mature and supportive during the early stages of the pregnancy. My least favorite character was probably Shigeru's dad, but I understood his frustrations. At times, I wanted him to confront Yuki physically, but the manga took a more intriguing path instead of the predictable route.
The artwork was beautiful! It was visually pleasing and complemented the engaging story perfectly.
In conclusion, this is a short manga series perfect for casual reading anytime. It has great re-read value for me—I can see myself revisiting my favorite parts repeatedly.
This might not count as a spoiler, but... I was mistaken! The baby turned out to be my favorite character. Given such parents, it's astonishing how different the baby's personality turned out to be! I wish we could have seen more of Shigeru, Yuki, and their baby together. Perhaps it's best the series ended where it did, keeping things simple and sweet.
What makes this story truly beautiful is how the characters evolve when confronted with the issue of teenage pregnancy. Initially, they're utterly clueless and helpless, but gradually, they grow—and you'll find yourself loving them every step of the way. Not only are the main characters admirable, but so too are those around them, painting a vivid picture of family, friendship, and support.
The story is a learning experience from start to finish.
