Roast to Power

When i read the synopsis of a boy recarnated with the help of a dragon, I was instantly hooked. A really nice story and i appreciate the way the author has told it . Just added to my library.

The man smiled and addressed us in a kind tone that was again in contrast with his previous actions"Good, now you know how this goes, give me a number between 1 and 10." He said, his tone light yet seemingly forced.

The road led up to the first of the two lakes, this one was so small it was more of a pond than a lake. The second lake was a bit further up and flowed into this pond before turning into a river.

Honestly disappointed. This story wasted its potential. The story progression is slow and not very rewarding. There is an over-fixation on politics and Kingdom development. I mean, it is one thing to approach kingdom-building with the 'reincarnated as a slime' approach as that is more interesting and there isn't a heavy focus on the specifics. Here is the opposite. We do not need to know how he convinced merchants to come to the town, and it is counterproductive to write three chapters on two stupid merchant groups. MC does not focus on building a powerful army despite the fact that he constantly talks about taming higher level beasts. I have read 200 chapters and he is only now getting his second high level creature. 200 chapters. Ridiculous. It is called Lord of the Magical Beasts for fvck's sake not Lord of scheming which is what he spends his time doing.The MC is a boring, generic Chinese scheming MC, but without that extra shot of testosterone. Dude knows when to retreat and kiss ass when facing characters he can't afford to provoke.That being said the world development is rather good with techniques, people and the world history explained in relatively vivid detail and unravelling gracefully as you read along. If you love really specific Kingdom-building, everything from peace talks to diviving up resources to socio-economic plans then you'll love this. I just don't appreciate it because this is a fantasy novel, not an economics textbook.
