In the cliché romance novel, “I‘ve been in love with you for a thousand years”, Jiang Baiwan, a second generation rich female villainess, committed su*cide after her family went bankrupt. When she died, all she had left was a bank card with 8 million in it and a small villa in her name…

The white-collar worker Jiang Baiwan woke up to find herself transmigrated as that rich second generation who had just began to swallow sleeping pills!

And when she checked the number in the bank card, the newly transmigrated bankrupt rich girl almost fainted with excitement…

Heavens! Eight Million! I’m rich!

As the big BOSS who controls the lifeline of the global economy, Ji Chen felt that life was not challenging.

He watched on with indifference as the Jiang family went bankrupt. He could even watch his former fiancée Jiang Baiwan, whom he had never met, live on the streets because of the bankruptcy and it wouldn’t cause any ripples in his cold heart.

Until one day, Ji Chen saw his former fiancée walking down the street, treating a designer bag as a fish basket while chewing on a pancake in her hand.

……How can this woman be so leisurely!

I recently read "Shanghai Fantasy" and I'm baffled by its low rating. If I could, I'd give it more than five stars just to boost its score. I'm unclear about the novel @Lumina25684 referred to, as her review seemed disconnected. In the original story, the protagonist's biological parents abandoned her and took her brother abroad, while her fiancé's father still wants their marriage to proceed.

Regarding the issue of stalking, the ex-fiancé simply happens to see her occasionally since her new apartment is close to his workplace, not because he's actively stalking her. It's not until later on that she discovers his identity, as he's commonly referred to as "Fiancé" without his name being frequently disclosed.

The plot involving the main character, a transmigrated orphan, moving into a small apartment and renting out her luxurious villa for income is perfectly logical given her situation. She's aware of her new circumstances but hasn't completed the book, so she doesn't recognize familiar faces. This isn't a flaw but rather adds to the authenticity of her character development.

What I appreciated was how everyone around her noticed her changed demeanor, like her ex-fiancé recognizing the shift in soul, and others perceiving improvements in her personality. It showed that these changes were substantial and not a clichéd "Mary Sue" transformation.

Additionally, the character's imperfections were well-balanced, like struggling with her cooking business initially and exercising caution without becoming overly suspicious. This made her feel more relatable and realistic.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this novel and rate it 7 out of 5 stars, hoping to see a higher rating reflecting its quality.

The FL, the main male character, was an intriguing read, quite likable indeed. However, I found the ML's behavior quite disappointing. Honestly, my expectations were high, but I couldn't tolerate his hypocrisy and lack of depth. He comes across as arrogant, obnoxious, and self-centered, with his only redeeming qualities being wealth and physical appearance. The way he humiliated the MC upon their first encounter by offering a check and telling her not to follow him was disrespectful, considering she had no intention of pursuing him. Then, just two days later, he manipulates events to shadow her constantly – it's quite pathetic.

Additionally, the concept of many female leads in Chinese novels easily succumbing to the ML's good looks baffles me. Have they never encountered attractive people before? Is it really that desperate or lacking self-control? Do they undervalue themselves, perceiving him merely as a shallow,有钱的花花公子?

In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this novel to others.

The story is straightforward, yet efficient in delivering its message. I believe every narrative has a 'heart,' a central essence that holds it together. Artists like Michelangelo and Hayao Miyazaki have spoken about tapping into something innate within their subject matter, allowing it to reveal its true form. They perceive a guiding force that whispers to them, dictating the nature and direction of their art. This 'heart' is the guiding principle that shapes their work.

In contrast, weak stories often miss this voice. They lack the core that keeps the story cohesive. For instance, take the shift in the Halo franchise from Bungie to 343 Studios. While Bungie captured the essence of feeling small and insignificant amidst a vast conflict, 343 Studios transformed it into a superhero tale, losing the original heart of the series.

A good writer understands their story's heart and ensures everything aligns with it. In the example of "Jiang Baiwan and 8 Million," the author conveys Jiang's independence through her character choices, relationships, and her pursuit of a snack shop rather than fame. The story maintains a consistent theme of self-reliance and individuality, despite its simplicity.

While this book may not be groundbreaking or the most innovative, it is well-crafted with a clear purpose. It doesn't strive for complexity but remains authentic to its essence. It's a solid, well-made piece, not a masterpiece, but a satisfying read. Just as a skilled carpenter creates a functional, well-built birdhouse, this story is a delight in its own right, catering to its intended audience and purpose. The author knew what they wanted to achieve, and it shows in the final product.

As soon as I began, I couldn't help but continue! This romantic tale was delightful, light-hearted, and free of misunderstandings, providing a delightful read over a few hours. The decision to give it a chance turned out to be well worth it.

Initially, the book's synopsis didn't spark much excitement, but my instincts proved right. The connection between the main characters was captivating, with their relationship blossoming gradually from a solid friendship based on trust. It was a beautiful portrayal of a slow-burning love story.

If you're a fan of tender moments and a touch of conflict, there were some intense scenes where the leading lady's pride took a playful knock (as per the original storyline).

In summary, if you have some leisure time, I highly recommend giving this book a try – it's an enjoyable read that won't disappoint.

This is a heartwarming and fluffy read, but it does have moments that feel sluggish. Ji Chen is an endearing male lead, his innocence shining through, while Jiang Baiwan is charming and a delightful contrast. Their friendship with Tan Mi mirrors the dynamics between Kyoko and Kanae in Skip Beat, which I found delightful.

The story itself has minimal conflict, but the main characters' behavior can be rather pitiful and over-the-top, bordering on exhausting. Initially, they served as comedic relief, but they unexpectedly took their antagonistic roles quite seriously.

The female lead's character can be quite draining – she's a minor celebrity known for constant tears and victimhood, portrayed as if constantly being bullied. In one scene, she visits the protagonist with the original male lead, and he ends up carrying her after she cuts her finger, seemingly oblivious to their lack of compatibility. Despite their short-lived connection, their foolishness almost seems fitting for their relationship dynamic.

Honestly, I'm persevering, but it all feels incredibly absurd and mind-numbing. The main character, ML, seems indifferent to the destruction of her family by Novel ML, even going so far as to break off their engagement. This causes distress for the MC, who feels responsible, despite not being directly involved. She resembles the Original FL character, but without the constant tears, instead projecting an optimistic demeanor.

Later, ML invades her privacy, publicly humiliating her with a check and telling her to stop pursuing him. Yet, it's revealed that he's the one stalking her in reverse. The character's actions and reactions are inconsistent - one moment she resists his charm, and the next she gawps in awe,引来旁人赞叹他的帅气。 Her misunderstanding stems from skimming the details, leading to a ridiculous storyline where she concocts a drama about the original pretending to be poor and leaving, despite knowing that ML is wealthier than Novel ML.

The plot is highly illogical – the original loved Novel ML but suffered due to him, yet remained loyal to her fiancé, who ultimately abandoned her. Now, simply because she finds some interest in ML's mundane life, he starts watching her, causing her to feel guilty and embarrassed for no apparent reason.

This is a charming and lighthearted tale, but the pacing could be improved as it required some chapter skips. The characters lack depth, but thankfully, it avoids common illogical pitfalls found in many Chinese web novels. It's a decent option for casual reading to pass the time, although there are certainly more superior Chinese novels available.

Pretty good, actually. It's incredibly hilarious, and the translation is top-notch. The story revolves around a wealthy girl's soul being switched with that of a poor one, which leads to contrasting perspectives on life. The former fiancé, who happens to be attractive, is a real catch – imagine having Jungkook from BTS, Brad Pitt, or Keanu Reeves as your ex! It's hard not to get swoony, especially when you're just adjusting to this new reality and barely know him. These types of stories are quite common in Korean dramas, featuring the "white lotus" character. I've given it a full five-star rating, and what stands out most is the excellent translation. I really enjoy it.
