The man I saved destroyed my country with his own hands.

I still remembered the day when I was given the title “Consort Yu” and my husband was kneeling outside of the palace for the night.

It happened to be New Year’s Eve that day, and there was a heavy snowfall.

Xu Tangan told me that he would treat me better than anyone else.

I could seek his power and status, but I must not seek his love.

To be completely honest, this story didn't impress me much. The main characters were unlikable, so it was hard to empathize with them when they faced difficulties. The protagonist's sudden love for the emperor, her previous lack of considering suicide, and her foolish decisions left me questioning her judgment.

As for the male lead, his obsession with the protagonist seemed contradictory when he had children with other women. It was baffling how he believed his actions were intelligent. The villain in "Beauty to Ashes" at least had some remorse, unlike this character who appeared utterly unapologetic for his actions.

The purpose of "Extra 1" remained unclear, especially since it failed to evoke sympathy for the male lead. Most readers would likely dislike him, as he mistreated the protagonist's sister and seemed callous. The plot twist involving the male lead was confusing and served little purpose.

While one might feel slightly sorry for the protagonist, her decision to stay in her situation despite multiple opportunities to escape was illogical. Her desire to live until old age seemed misplaced. The only character I genuinely pitied was her deceased husband.

In conclusion, I would not recommend this story. If you're looking for engaging angsty content, I suggest checking out "Beauty to Ashes" instead.

It's quite heartbreaking. The spoiler suggests that she tragically takes her own life, feeling responsible for everything that went wrong. From her point of view, she believes her parents dislike her, though I personally don't think that's entirely true, especially by the end. As far as I understand, they were a loving family who likely sensed their daughter's unhappiness.

The Emperor was quite selfish until his demise, when he finally did something selfless by not being buried alongside her, allowing her peace. Although keeping the unborn child from her husband could be seen as an act of kindness, it wasn't out of genuine love since she had no intention of being with him.

Her husband truly cared about her, evoking emotions when we delve into his perspective. It's unfortunate that they couldn't find happiness together. Honestly, I don't place blame on her; her kind nature seems to have been her undoing.

The story was quick-paced, but as a sensitive reader, it tugged at my emotions. Initially, I was fine, but the second extra chapter triggered an emotional cascade. Overall, it was a touching read.

I am perplexed by the high 4.3 rating, considering it's a tragic novel that poorly portrays ancient China. The main characters' relationship feels forced and illogical, akin to a poorly executed, overly dramatic Chinese series. The narrative felt contrived, with a lack of depth or coherence.

From the very beginning, I knew this was a low-quality novel, but my curiosity led me to finish it despite its shortcomings. Unfortunately, the ending验证了我的预感 - it was utterly disappointing and lacked any semblance of originality or thoughtfulness on the part of the author.

The female lead's actions had consequences, and the male lead's love was reduced to mere entertainment, as if it were a one-dimensional plot device in a ten-out-of-ten melodrama. I would not recommend this book; it's only worth reading if you're seeking a hilariously misguided example of how not to craft a tragedy.

The narrative and translation of this novel are both exquisite. Each character evokes deep sympathy. Although the ending is sorrowful, it feels fitting – none of their stories could have possibly ended on a happier note.

I concur with the first commentator. The angst and tragedy in this particular story fell flat for me. The main characters缺乏 depth or meaningful development; they felt one-dimensional. The supporting characters, surprisingly, displayed more emotional complexity and dynamic behavior compared to the protagonists, particularly the female lead, whose carefree demeanor was stark contrast to the turmoil around her.

    **Warning: Spoilers Ahead**

The FL's character arc was disappointing. She feels guilt and remorse, but still harbors an infatuation with the king, seemingly unaffected by the suffering of her family and countrymen. Her reactions to tragic events were underwhelming – she showed no significant emotional response even when her sister attempted to ignite her anger through suicide, or when her husband passed away. Instead, she went about her daily life at the palace, enjoying activities like the lantern festival with the emperor, which left me utterly confused.

As for the emperor ML, despite having a wife and numerous concubines, he openly proclaimed eternal love for the FL, which struck me as utterly inappropriate. It's difficult to empathize with any of these characters, given their questionable actions and decisions.

I genuinely feel同情 for the secondary characters who were caught up in the mess created by this irresponsible and unproductive duo, especially the kind and gentle husband whose sacrifices went unnoticed.

I simply cannot express how incredible the characters were. Each one remained true to their individuality, and despite their growth and transformations, their fundamental essence remained consistent, which was refreshing. It felt authentic rather than突如其来的 personality shifts. They all faced consequences for their actions (except for one notable exception), and I couldn't help but empathize with their emotional struggles. The sadness was profound, yet it added to the beauty of the story. The ending was fittingly poignant.

In conclusion, this is a heart-wrenching yet stunning novel that leaves a lasting impression. I am deeply grateful to both the author and the translator for creating such a remarkable piece. Thank you!

If you find solace in the emotional turmoil of a tragic story, then this novel is tailored for you. It's important to note that there's a significant plot twist: the protagonist meets an unfortunate end. I couldn't bear to read further after the fifth chapter, so I only read the final three to grasp the conclusion. The level of detail proved too much for my heart to bear.

It's truly remarkable; I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. However, I deducted one star because I didn't experience the emotional depth I expected – I'm unsure why that was the case. Normally, stories like this evoke tears, yet throughout, my emotions remained rather unresponsive. Without delving into spoilers, the plot revolves around the gradual decline brought on by a maniac's fixation, and it's a compelling narrative.
