This is the story of a young noble devil within the Xertzul Abyss. Spoiled and dotted on since birth, James is your typical arrogant young master. He bullies and beats anyone he can find with the help of his butler Azon. His good days come to end though when he unlocks a useless Dao and is labeled as trash by his devil clan. With his fall from grace, James has to learn the value of hard work and effort if he ever wants to find his place within the heartless Abyss.

This is a true weak to strong story focusing on an evil protagonist. James has no moral compass and is riddled with character flaws that are fixed by his character development. If you want to skip Volume 1\'s character progression start reading at chapter 69 it is a full recap that allows you to start reading Volume 2.

This novel has logical character and strength development while the MC is given very little plot armor to help him along his path. In fact, most of the time the plot actively works against the mc.

Volume 2:

Seeing no further prospects under the protection of his clan Soulless (James) heads out alone in the cold dark Abyss. More mature themes are explored as the Soulless comes of age as an adult. His hopes, focus, and drive change as he matures through adulthood learning to stand on his own two feet. Mc starts to grow a little OP.

Volume 3:

Soulless embarks on a quest to the Western Frontier to create his own fief. By now the Mc is Op & Evil Incarnate.

Stability of updates : obviously it's very good.
Character design : Much development here for our MC i'm really satisfied, characters feel like living being, they're interesting and deep.
Story development : That's personnal here, but i really like the flow of this story, fast or slow when it need to be.
    World background : Flourishing world.
Writing quality : Well english is only my 2nd language, but i never had anything to say about orthography.

I really like this story, it's from my point of view a high quality cultivation novel. Since the stone system was adopted i only gave my stone to 2 or 3  stories but i'm ready to give them all to this one.
As a conclusion if you're tired of usual CN ****, then it's for you, 100 chapters of pleasure. Don't stop author.

Btw might contain a small spoiler nothing major though

Devil rise is a great web novel, with a devil as an mc from a noble clan at the start the mc is a brat for around 50 chapters but then his personality starts to improve.
the mc also has a system but it’s not that overpowered it shows his stats and other things but does not improve his level or gives him items so far.

While the character development, world, setting, and plot are awesome there are still avenues for improvement. As a note, I really enjoyed reading it, I just think reviews without input are pointless.

My first complaint would be the perspective, it's written in first person but shifts around like third. There's more of a difference between written perspective than whether he does something or I do. Information dumps they would ignore or overlay with inner dialogue making it feel much more like you're in their head, for instance. Third person follows the situation and first follows the attention of"I", so it's jarring when you read stuff that "I" isn't paying attention to. You didn't go totally wrong but there's room for improvement before it actually feels like you're reading from the character's perspective.

Another point of improvement would be dialogue. Regardless of who is speaking, it sounds the same as the narrator/"I"s thoughts. Two people expressing the same thought often do so in very different ways. Not every character needs to reverse the syntax of their sentences like Yoda, but giving characters distinct voices really helps the readers see them as characters in a story instead of the source of information the author chose to speak a sentence. If you think their lines in an accent it can help, but that limits you to the number of accents you can think to yourself in.

Similarly, each perspective also sounds the same, the inner monologue doesn't shift in tone or word choice depending on who "I" is. This is one of the benefits of shifting perspective in third person, the tone of the narrator shouldn't change. That isn't the same in first person. Everyone's head sounds different, and that means every perspective should sound different.

The mc is funny but few chapter later his personality start to annoy us. But there is character growth and the author doesn't kill off MC's loved one to give him motivation to get stronger, he lives in abyss and after awakens and start to cultivate he finds that strength is a must to survive and his 'young master' attitude starts to change. When he understand that his clans background give him a safe space and limit his growth he leave the empire and starts a journey.

If you are planning on dropping the novel pls wait till 40-50 chapter the mc's character changes along with his strength.

The cat partner is funny, the author should write side chapter about the litte halfling who follows cat dao
