"I understand your role," he said with a sly grin, taking a sip of his wine as he settled across from me, who remained obedient. "So, why did you approach me despite my flaws?" I struggled not to cry, my heart aching. "How does a girl get involved with her boss's boyfriend, someone who's been so supportive?" It was embarrassing, but I felt guilty and humiliated; he wasn't entirely blameless. "You manipulated me into—," My sentence trailed off as he chuckled. "Really think that?" A sinister smile played on his lips, sending chills down my spine. "To be honest, you were just a wager," he revealed, shattering my world. All along, I'd been nothing more than a bet? He pushed me to become someone I didn't recognize, forcing me into regrettable actions, even betraying my boss's trust – and it was all for a game? Without waiting for more, I bolted for the door, desperate to escape. But Ryker had other, sinister intentions lurking. "Kathleen, not so quick," his voice, now menacing, stopped me in my tracks. Beside him stood another man, "You sought her out?" he questioned, pointing at me. "Yes, she slipped away," the voice I recognized sent fear surging through me. I'd run to get away from this one, and now Ryker had sealed my fate in the worst way possible. "Well, she's all yours," Ryker declared, narrowing his eyes like a predator, "since I'm done with her."
