Hearing the sound of smashing glass, I try to rush through the door, jamming the key into the lock. Instead I fumbled, scratching the outside of the lock with the small copper key before I finally succeeded. The door opens into the familiar beige apartment - though, the floating, pixelated, rainbow-coloured letters in front of me were definitely a new addition:

I dropped the bag down off my shoulder.

I ripped the zip open. The inside of my bag was pitch black and apparently bottomless, far bigger than it should have been. In desperation, I thrusted my arm into the bag looking for anything I could use to help me stay alive.
