In Book 3 of My Alpha Series (a standalone novel), the tension between characters escalates dramatically. "You nearly took my life, mate! How could you do such a thing?" he spat, his voice filled with anger. Despite feeling惧ful, I stood firm, hiding my fear behind a cold facade, "You killed my brother, and that bond is stronger than any mating tie," I replied. "You brought it upon yourself," he snarled back, clearly justifying his actions. Determined, I declared, "If you believe that, then I suppose I deserve the same fate. Feel free to break my heart; it's already dead within me, far better than the torment you could inflict for attempting to harm you." I've faced horrors before, and I vowed never to relive them, especially at the hands of my own mate. Yet, he held the power to resurrect that dead heart, only to crush it to pieces once more. He menacingly warned, "No, I invested heavily in you, despite your worthlessness. You owe me dearly, mate. I'll claim that lifeless heart, and I'll relish every moment of destroying it while you're still alive." His grip on my neck tightened, leaving me unable to respond. My fate was sealed, as his eyes revealed the inferno he intended to unleash upon me. There was no escape, no words to mitigate the consequences of my defiance. "From now on, you're my slave. Follow my every command without question, or face the punishment for disobedience. Pray, slave, because you'll surely need it, especially when it comes to taming your sharp tongue," he commanded.
