In the realm of Luminalia, magic is the lifeblood of society. It powers factories, lights homes, moves carriages, and shields against the forces of evil. At the center of it all are mages, the ones who were born with the gift of wielding magic. Their powers are what shapes society, and their prestige is unmatched. For those who were born without the gift, the only way to rise above is through wealth or ingenuity.

Tesric Lestair, a young and brilliant but unconventional inventor, has no magic to speak of. Yet, he has created something extraordinary: electricity, an energy that could rival the effects of magic without the need for a spellcaster. In order to prove his invention's worth and carve out a name for himself in a world ruled by magic, Tesric must attend Pinkrose Academy, one of the most prestigious magical institutions in the realm.

There he must navigate a web of arcane traditions, strange teaching methods, and students who see him as an outsider. As he works to refine his inventions, he forms unlikely alliances with those fascinated by his ideas and sparks rivalries with those who see him as lesser. Yet, beneath the academy lays a dark plot, one that could destroy not only Tesric's plans but the entire world of magic itself.
