Now, let's address why I deducted stars despite the good translations. The issue lay with the story itself. The plot was generic, the conclusion rushed, and the writing style lacked maturity. The cultivation aspect often felt contrived and unsatisfying. If the narrative had focused on a simple slice of life, a Mary Sue tale, or light-hearted content, I might have enjoyed it more. However, the author attempted to blend multiple genres into one, resulting in a muddled mess.
The mystery elements were predictable and failed to create tension. It felt as though the author struggled with suspense, leaving the narrative feeling flat and unnecessary. There was a clear sense of ambition at the beginning, but it dwindled towards the end, resulting in an abrupt and unsatisfactory conclusion.
The pacing was abysmal, especially given the excessive padding in earlier chapters. The author tried to cram various elements – cultivation, conflict, entertainment, romance, and mystery – into a single narrative, but it backfired, turning it into a trainwreck instead of a masterpiece.
The story was cringeworthy, bordering on ridiculous. Despite my strong dislike, I awarded three stars due to the decent translations. The story did have aspects I enjoyed, such as transmigration, character development, and some lighthearted moments. However, after the introduction of the mysterious organization and a seemingly formidable antagonist who was quickly eliminated, the story devolved into a tedious exercise in suspension of disbelief.
If you're looking for a mindless read or have plenty of time to spare, you might enjoy it. But for those seeking a well-crafted plot, I'd advise steering clear to avoid potential frustration from the sheer absurdity of the novel.
