What I particularly enjoyed was her enthusiastic fangirling, especially her expressions like "death by 10,000 points" and referring to palace opponents as NPCs. It was adorable! The scenes where her siblings found their partners were incredibly cute.
The MC didn't strive to be a superhero changing the world; instead, she focused on doing her best with her empress duties, aiming to improve women's status and lives within her capabilities. As the machine-translation puts it, "Lin Feilu doesn't seek gender equality here, but rather hopes to uplift women's standing and lives to the best of her ability."
The supporting characters, like her imperial siblings, were equally entertaining, like the main character. For instance, when her oldest sister pondered over choosing a husband from the emperor's portrait selections, she jokingly wished, "Why can't I keep them all like Father?" - what a lively and charming royal setting!
I would love to read more novels with this perfect blend of enjoyment, comedy, and sweetness.
I absolutely adore the FL's character, her amusing antics, and how she forms unexpected bonds within the palace. If you're looking for a light and heartwarming read without heavy drama like heartache, tears, or betrayals, this is perfect. The supporting characters were all charming as well.
The romance aspect is equally delightful. The FL and ML (Male Lead)'s relationship is a treat, filled with endearing moments once they finally come together. I wholeheartedly give this book a 10/10 recommendation!
As mentioned earlier, the beginning had high potential. Unfortunately, certain plot developments have proven lackluster or not entirely beneficial to the narrative. For instance, the subplot about delving into "Jianghu" feels forced and disconnected, almost as if it was introduced abruptly. It's entertaining in its own right, but it doesn't seem to fit coherently within the overall story. In fact, it might be slightly out of character for our protagonist.
However, the pacing soon slows to a glacial pace, akin to molasses, as the focus shifts to the主角's cute antics and her actual childish behavior, which contrasts with the initially promised portrayal of a calculating and ruthless actress. Many readers seem to appreciate this more lighthearted 'slice of life' aspect, but for those, like myself, seeking intense court intrigue and a strategic protagonist, the story has dragged on for far too long.
At chapter 350, my patience ran thin, feeling that the series has drifted away from its initial premise. It becomes a meandering, uneventful tale with a hint of romance buried amidst the sluggishness. If you enjoy a leisurely pace and simple, everyday stories, this might suit your taste. The writing is competent, and the translation is commendable, but it's not what I was hoping for.
The only downside is that the novel feels quite short; I wish to delve deeper into the backstories of all the supporting characters, especially the First Prince. There's no clear explanation given about his relationship with Yanxin. Additionally, sometimes I feel like a paragraph is missing while reading consecutive chapters.
Nonetheless, it's an excellent read, and I highly recommend giving it a try. A big thank you to both the author and the translator for bringing this story to our attention ❤️"
