Synopsis:
As the eldest daughter of the house, no one had ever demanded that Jiang Shiyuan be a paragon of virtue or a role model for her younger siblings. Instead, she was pampered by everyone, which cultivated her into a wealthy lady of leisure.
After her younger sister took her place in the marriage, all of the Western Capital waited to see her become a laughingstock. She, however, lived more comfortably behind closed doors than anyone else.
With a sweet smile, she congratulated the newlyweds on growing old together, then turned back to her life of “lying flat,” determined to be a sickly, cherished darling in this lifetime. She had no idea that she had been targeted long ago.
By a stroke of luck, Pei Zisu also came back to life. He was a brilliant young general who had met a tragic, premature end—a conclusion that left him thoroughly dissatisfied.
He could avoid the blood-soaked disasters. He could handle his family’s crises perfectly.
He had planned to simply be an upright man of character in this life. Yet, while training his troops in the harsh elements, he heard that his cousin—who lived “high in the clouds”—had her engagement broken. He dropped everything and rode north, fearing she would suffer the ridicule and grievances that followed a broken betrothal.
But once he reached the Western Capital, he realized he had worried for nothing. Her engagement with the Heir was gone, but the line of suitors waiting to marry this Jiang family cousin stretched for two miles.
At the family banquet, the elders all claimed they would find her the best young man in the world. Pei Zisu watched her with smiling eyes, his cheeks flushed as he leaned forward.
“This cousin has admired Anian for a long time and has waited for many years. I wonder if Anian is willing to let me be her husband?”
Everyone fell silent; they had never seen someone behave so shamelessly in front of their elders!
Jiang Shiyuan tilted her head, finding the look in his eyes quite unusual. Could it be that he was reborn, too?
